It's certainly a whole different viewpoint there. Perhaps it's about being a coastal city in a warm weather climate - more people spending their time and money boating, fishing, jet skiing, or other outdoor activities. San Diego, Miami, Los Angeles, and to a lesser extent Tampa and Jacksonville have had challenges selling tickets that colder climate cities have not experienced.

There's a thought that disinterest is fueled by a possible move to LA next year by the team.

There's no excuse for it. This game has been on everybody's schedule since it was announced over the summer. With this being an evening game, there's no excuse of being out playing golf, boating, surfing, etc. This may have something to do with why the team is pushing to relocate north of the city or perhaps Los Angeles.

There is a weird reason that Charger games don't sell-out until late. The team holds back a chunk of tickets (can't recall the reason why ...) for their own private use, and then if they don't sell them or assign them will release them to the general public.

I live in SoCal and have read about this issue and had it explained to me several times by Charger fans.

Yes, SoCal fans are different than cold weather fans who pretty much have nothing else going on in their areas and cling to their sports teams, but they are also frontrunners and when teams do well they will sell out.

You can go to the beach, year round, for free, and look at hot women in bikinis. There's so much to do there that passive viewing of sports isn't that important. There's sh*t to do for fun in New England that compares to California.

Oh yeah, and evening game? So what. It's still 70 degrees out and you're going night swimming. New Englanders just don't understand the freedom Californians have. I like football, but going to the game or watching it in a bar is boring out there unless you're a transplant.

I know this is the way it is in Jacksonville and Miami. Can't imagine Cali would be any different.

That couldnt be further from the truth. Even before the threat of relocating came up, this still happened. There are very few fans who actually believe the team will go to LA. Another city? ....possibly. But LA is actually not at the top right now. Regardless, the threat of relocation has nothing to do with ticket sales. It's a variety of factors, most of which have already been laid out in this thread. The other is (and I've heard this several times), is that the team does not announce that games arent sold out. So, many fans assume games are sold out (especially this weekend for instance). Then the media gets wind of it and starts talking about blackouts. Then, fans buy up the rest once its announced.
