First off as I am sure you have heard tons of faces back out there and Burgess as well. Seymour, Warren and Crable head the list.

Still no Bru, Springs or Watson.

OK I am going to start at the end as it was that entertaining. BB is a genius for this team building moment.

He had the DE playing offense VS the offense playing DE. (no real QBs envolved)

First play was a run right by Merriweather and Light made the stop at the LOS.
2nd play nice high arching pass from Whilhite to Butler in the right front corner of the EZ. Nice catch too.
3rd play was a little odd some kind of odd option play....Hand off than the "RB" threw it to Whilhite but it was backwards and Whilhite missed it picked up the fumble and ran it in for the Score.
Brady was watching this with a huge grin on his face....the O the real offense than ran a lap for letting in the 2 TDs.
Very interesting stuff.

OK now to the real notes. I spent pretty much the whole day watching the LBers and Dline as they had the new faces.

Burgess can really push the tackles and one would be sack and another play where he pushed Kaczur back put just couldn't shake him. He looked quick in the positional pass rush drill but they all do as it is vs a dummy.
Seymour had IMO two would be sacks and seems every bit the force he always is.
Warren didn't stand out as much to me.

and Crable didn't look to hot. He still has tiny legs not sure where the bulked up rumors came from but that I guess is what it is. He didn't have any good rushes by my count and seemed to get pushed around on a few run plays. He did have tight coverage on one of the TEs once and he looked quick in the individual drill too.

Edelman got work with the ones and continues to look the part.

Slater droped a kick off.....here come the haters.

Tank was getting some work with the LBs today.

Butler had a nice pass deflection but got beat by Moss on another play.

I Will post more if I think of something I am leaving....

PS it looked rain as I was walking out the door and since I had been soaked twice all ready I grabed an umbrella and no rain.

I dogged Crable a little bit there so I thought I should mention he did have one play where he got to the QB untouched but I figured that to be more of a mistake on the O-line.(not sure who made the mistake)

Whoa - Warren and Crable, plus Seymour? Terrific.

Great to hear that Burgess looks good. Too much to expect for him to fit right in, but it sounds like he had a very nice first practice. Obviously he passed the physical.

I think we are all willing to give Crable a couple practices to get going. Hopefully he will improve by finally getting back on the field after a year.

What fun it must have been for the team to switch O and D. Reminds me a bit of when the Celtics in the Bird-Walton year started a playoff game with the Green Team - Walton, Wedman, Sichsting, etc. to start the game - to give the team a lift.

I think the continued amount of 4-3 even with Sey and Warren back is worth noting and I even saw some action with 4 linemen and 4 LBs in short yardage situations.

I could see a Red Zone/short yardage D of Sey/Brace/Wilfork/Warren, with Burgess/Mayo/Thomas and Tank Williams at S. A lot tougher than what we had last year.

3rd down D and Red Zone D are the major areas of improvement this year.

I want to say this is brilliant but I have it pegged as team-building/fun.

Excited until I have a reason not to be. (/hopelsessFan)

I think I recall the 4-4 I mentioned consisting of Sey/Wilfork/Brace/Warren and Thomas/Mayo/Guyton/Woods...Merriweather was the Safety and Bodden was the CB closet to me not sure who was on the other side.
