Just wanted to throw this out there.

Given that the offense is stacked talent wise, do you think that BB would have "lost" the jets game to ground the Pats a little bit and not get caught up in the "undefeated" season hype and bring back a little of the underdog talk?

lets stop giving BB way tooooooooo much credit guys. Why cant we accept that he had a bad game like everyone else and rationalize everything has a some contrived devious plan ????

Yeah, he also wanted to get caught with the whole Spygate thing to focus the team.

Ditto.

People give Belichick way too much blame or credit for everything. Not just for deliberately losing games like the OP suggests, but also micro-managing every single play call when it simply isn't the case. If this were true, why would so many GM's and owners try to hire Pats coaches? Because they weren't robots in New England, like some try to paint them to be.

No. I think they play every game to win. Especially against a talented division rival, especially when you consider the last two times we've missed the playoffs, it was due to tiebreakers.

My guess is the Patriots were surprised at how good the Jets defense would be, were surprised how rusty their offense would look in game 1, were surprised that KOC would be picked up by the Jets, and were surprised Welker wouldn't play. Their late decision to go to a no-huddle with weird plays on their wrists and on an old-school washboard basically proves that they had to change their preparation and gameplan in a short time. Sometimes we get outcoached and outplayed. It happens.

Why would any coach intentionally lose a game? That was the worst game plan offensively since their horrific game plan against the Giants in the super bowl. The Jets defense owned the Pats last Sunday. End of story!

Congrats - this just became my sig on another site

No. Nobody intentionally loses game. The Pats lost because the Jets soundly outplayed them, and Ryan outcoached Belichick.

not in a division game, HELL no

Not in any game! If BB decided to lose a game on purpose his ass should be fired.

Not a chance.

But it is reasonable to assume that NE went into that game with limited arsenol's of playcalling, seeing as BB is notoriously neutered when playing a team he will face again. This is even more pronounced when you consider that NE will face a very similar defense just two weeks later.

Yeah,Now we lose games on purpose just to take the heat off the team ...

LOL that's quite a 'plan' there buddy

I think maybe BB should deviously 'plan' on losing 6 more games on purpose to insure that the team is sitting home in January and getting well rested for the 2010 season

When we lose games it is on purpose now,not because we sucked and did not play well....

Belichick was also behind the Steelers two rings this decade, giving them advice and helping them game plan, so that when he wins his 4th ring soon it will be even more dramatic.

there is one thing people are kind of forgetting about the Jets game.
The Pats went into it like a regualr season game the Jets went into it as the ultimate end all game

So what you are saying is that the Patriots did not want to win the game as much as the Jets did? ...Hogwash

The Patriots got beat down by Rex Ryan's fantastic defensive plan..lets face it BB and his team was outcoached and outplayed that game.

Revis and the Jets front 7 are studs at this point

I didn't see BB out on the field. Or was that him in the #12 uniform throwing off his back foot and sail footballs over the heads of receivers?
