Interesting.

I thought Light was finishing up contract with Pats.....

Even if they are, the Steelers are in a worse cap situation than the Pats. Not sure where they'd get he money to outbid us.

They probably couldn't outbid us...but they'd drive up his asking price....

Tell them to get lost BB.....;)

I have no idea if it's true, but it would make sense given the release of Starks.

Good point. And it's hard for them to pull some backloading of the contract shananigans since it would only be a short-term deal. Probably a 3-year deal at most.

There has to be other teams besides the Steelers solliciting his services. The fact that he's talking to the Pats shows that he wants to stay here in New England out of preference. I can't imagine that no other teams have inquired. But if this is our biggest competition, then this is about the best it could work out for us.

Sign Light, then wait until the first preseason game when it becomes obvious that Roethlisburger is going to get killed without a significant upgrade, and then squeeze the Steelers for a 1st round pick:D

The Steelers have traditionally had hogs up front that are excellent run blockers. Matt Light is many things, but a strong run blocker is not one of them.

Steelers resign OT's Colon and Scott. Have to assume this takes them out of Light sweepstakes. More good news today if we get Light back.

They had better keep their hands off of him! He needs to retire a Patriot!

I don't know if I agree with you about that, he is a strong run blocker.

With the Steelers having re-signed Colon, I don't think they are looking at Light anymore, but that's just my opinion.

Can't believe folks want Light back so badly...

I think he's a good run blocker too. It's pass blocking where he's slow as molasses in wintertime.

I hope we can get rid of him and get a 4th round comp. out of it. He is bad.

Yes and where would ***an Doors be without him. :confused3:

Go back to the tape

Isnt Colon their RT and they dont have a viable LT?

NFL players and coaches disagree with you as evidencd by his pro bowl berth. Pass blocking stats, and I agree with them.

That's a good question, as Scott has played at LT too, and they did re-sign him yesterday. They may try to use Scott there, or they may move Colon over to LT instead.

I don't equate the signings to it equaling that they are now out of the running for Light though.
