From NFL.com:

27. MICHAEL BROCKERS DT LSU
The Patriots are another team regularly changing fronts, and this 6-foot-6, 306-pound redshirt sophomore will look to show everyone at the combine that he has the athleticism to play both the 3-4 five-technique spot and an interior role in the 4-3.

28. COBY FLEENER TE STANFORD

29. KELECHI OSEMELE T IOWA STATE

30. ALSHON JEFFERY WR SOUTH CAROLINA

31. NICK PERRY DE USC
The odds of the Patriots keeping this pick are very low; some team will once again take out a second mortgage on their future with Bank Belichick to pick someone who seems like a great value. But the Pats could be tempted by the potential conversion of Perry from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 rush linebacker, seeing him as an instant upgrade to their lackluster pass rush.

27 seems unrealistic because I doubt Brockers falls that fall, while 31 seems unrealistic because I can't see BB taking a DE/OLB conversion from USC that high.

If Brockers lasts until 27 I will be ecstatic. But I doubt it.

I'd be doing cartwheels with that scenario ... just don't see it happening. Brockers may go as high as Top Ten!!!!

We caught a lot of breaks during the season. That would be another. Ochmed has suggested trading into the late teens if Brockers starts to slip. I think that is a more realistic scenario than him falling to 27.

I would be estatic to take Brockers at #27. Just plug the tape in of this kid and see the tremndous raw talent. In the BCS game alone, while the other LSU players were vacationing, Brockers had 7 tackles a scak and a blocked FG.

He is the real deal, but he does need time to develop a bit more. Most important after a couple of years in the system, he will be commanding double teams from opposing offenses, that will free up opportunities for outide OLB pressure, exotic blitzes and overload blitzes.

Instead of Perry, I am taking Cox at #31. Cox was a four time DL of the week in the SEC this past year. He played inside and outside and was very difficult to run on.

As I said before if Brockers falls to #16, if I was BB and have a dance partner, I go get Brockers for #31 and #48.

DE Brockers
DE Cox
OLB Curry
and two DB's and my draft is a tremendous success.

I doubt either of those players are there when the Pats are on the clock.

Fail mock

I do find it interesting that the packers would sort of emulate the pats by taking another stud TE.

for sure... I have the pats in my board's mock game. Traded Hernandez for Jordy Nelson a second and a 4th. Duped the guy good. I plan on taking Allen/Fleener with one of my 3 picks within 27-36

Brockers won't be available there but if he was, you'd be stupid to let him fall any further! He has some issues being one year starter but it's all there...just needs to be coached into him. With one more year at LSU he'd have been top 5, potentially a top pick.

As for Perry, I wouldn't take him anywhere in the first round. I ahve him falling out because of his frame, question marks over whether he can convert to an OLB in an NFL system where he has had little of it in the NCAA, and the fact he isn't versatile enough to put his hand in the dirt. So many people have this guy going high because of raw athletic talent, but I don't think he;'s worth it. He'll get drafted, but I wouldn't waste a first on him. All he is to me right now is an athletic freak.

Agree on both parts. Brockers will be a stud in this league. Perry is a huge ? for me and im passing on him until the end of the second.

See Jason Pierre-Paul.

See Jason Pierre-Paul.

It could be coached into him yes, but these are two different players. not really comparable. Perry is never going to be a hands down player...and has to learn a position he hasn't really played at USC.

That's not a JPP question mark...it's a totally different concern. JPP had the frame, build, everything...they just needed to coach it into him. Perry may have to do some serious bulking and has close to no experience as a 3-4 OLB.

JPP just had experience question marks overall having transferred schools like what...twice? He started out playing junior college level if I remember correctly before winding up at South Florida for a season...his intangibles got him drafted!

The issue with Perry is he's playing DE at USC in the pac-12....can he come to the NFL and play OLB? Could very well be a Bruschi type player, but is that worth a 1st round gamble? No. Which is why I haven't put him in my mock. The first round tag is way too high...2nd at best.

I've seen Brockers projected anywhere from 8 to 27 and mostly in the 13-17 range. I think we have to wait for the combine to get a better idea of where this will shake out.

I'd love to laugh at Tannehill @6 but after last year with Ponder, Locker, etc going way higher than anybody thought who knows.

DeCastro to the Jets is interesting. On the one hand that's really high for a guard even though most mocks have him going in the teens. On the other hand Mangold, DeCastro and Ferguson would be the best left side of a line in the game. They could go back to ground and pound and not let Sanchize kill them.

I have to see more of Nick Perry. Not sure what I think about him yet.

My biggest fear is that Brockers will blow away the scouts at the combine with his combination of size, explosion and strength.

Carolina holds the key. Do they take Still or Brockers? Still has very little upside left. Brockers is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can become, but there is always the chance he never puts it altogether. If I was Carolina and picking in the top ten, I need an mmediate hit and that is why I take Still over Brockers.

Perry isnt close to the athleticism that JPP exudes. No one is. He's more freakish than Javon Kearse. Aldon Smith is far more athletic than Perry. JPP and Smith are freaks because they only played one year of highschool ball, and 2 and 3 years of college ball respectively. Going into the draft, perry has played as much as the both of them had combined at that point in their careers. Thats why they are such freaks. (note: im not trying to put Aldon on JPP's level, not just yet anyhow)

Perry doesnt have the height or length of JPP, simply will not be able to manhandle larger OT's like JPP does. Even his quickness is a notch below JPP, when playing in space.

I think he could be good eventually, though i think his best fit will be OLB in a 4-3 the way the Broncos are using Von Miller.

Wouldnt waste a first rounder on him.

Still may be more polished, but i think even an unrefined Brockers is pretty close to Still. For me, its Brockers ''100 times out of 100'' (f*ck you Chris Collinsworth)
