Are you still giving top dollar for Talib after yesterday? I'm not. This isn't the Raiders where apparently there are incentives for stupid fouls. This is not a team to play like a immature 5 years old kid who didn't get his toy and then starts to cry out loud rolling all over the floor.

He's decision to bet in himself on the FA only shows that he's committed to the money not to this team. Not that he's wrong, but that show something, this can be a new Welker type problem if they tag him or difficult the deal to get done, the difference is that Welker has always been a decent and ethical guy.

Also he felt that hip again, that's chronic.

On Arrington, he got burned badly on the last TD, a traffic cone would do a better job on coverage outside. I don't understand why they keep doing this insanity

Corners get burned, that is what they do. The quicker you get used to it, the better you will feel.

Steve Smith is awesome, give the guy his due.

With Talib and Dennard out at the end who would you prefer in there ?

NAMES PLEASE.

Up til his injury, Talib was probably the best defensive player in the NFL this season. The Pats would not have 7 wins without his play early in the season. Ill give him a pass on his play last night being that it was his first game back. Feel differently though regarding his attitude with Smith. Talib needs to be a leader on this D. That may have cost him some money.

We need to draft a whole new secondary. This is just pure pathetic. With that kind of a defense, we'll be lucky to make it out of the first playoffs round.

Threads like this make me wonder what is gonna happen post BB/Brady when these types of losses are gonna be the norm ...

We just have to hope that he'll be better in his second game back

Ok I was kidding about Edelman although he didn't play bad when he needed to improvise DB

But anything is better than Arrington on the outside, there is no need to more evidence, move Dmac and put some of those F,,, ing safety's to play damn it why the fock did BB draft this Tavon Wilson for?

Draft a special teamer with a 2nd round pick, genious.

As far as losses go, that one last night wasn't too bad. This thread hasn't been too bad either.

People are gonna move on & tend more to other interests in their lives. They'll not pay as much attention or devote as much time to The Patriots as they do during the Parcells/Bledsoe/Belichick/Brady era. That's what's gonna happen. Other teams will rise & be perennially in front, thus making the emotional reward factor less for devoting a good sized piece of one's life to closely following The Patriots.
It's been a hell of a ride though, ever since they reeled off 7 in a row & were playoff bound in 1994. That's when this run of sustained excellence really all started.

What the hell are you talking about?

Talib up until his injury was one of the most in form defenders in the whole of the NFL and arguably the best DB in the league so far this year. He gets hurt, struggles a little when he comes back in his first week, and you piost a knee jerk thread like this? Really?

Not only that, but Steve Smith caught 4 passes for 64 yards and people proclaim he got burned? Steve Smith is an awesome player. If you keep him under 100 yards and without a score, I'm happy. That's what happened last night.

Arrington is what he is. A very good slot guy and just not comfortable outside. He's not the first corner with those attributes and he won't be the last. I wouldn't replace him with many other people.

As for the whole performance last night...we had a hobbled Talib, no Gregory (who was calling signals in place of Mayo) and no Dennard. I was very very apprehensive about this game and, whilst it wasn't an atrocious performance by the D, you can understand where their struggles came from.

We had no real leader out there last night and no one who could comfortably run that defence in Mayo/Gregory absence.

How did you feel about Talib after he pantsed Jimmy Graham?

Steve Smith isn't the same player he was 2-3 years ago. Talib should have been able to handle him.

I like Arrington, he can contribute in certain areas but I was never a fan of his contract. He's very good at his role in the slot but he's a complete liability outside. That wasn't Terrell Owens in his prime that made a complete fool out of him on the run and catch TD, it was Ted Ginn. And it happened in a huge spot. You can get burnt here and there, heck every CB does but not in that situation. With all the FA to be coming up really wish we could've paid him less to stick as the slot guy or let him get paid elsewhere, that's alot of $$ for a role player IMO.

Talib is not nearly durable enough for a big contract, and worse yet it's the same injury that keeps coming back. Reminds me of a better Leigh Bodden, it's a shame because both outstanding players and seemed like great guys to have in the locker room.

I think CB once again is a top priority next year.

Some of you are taking specific games to make your point. I'm thinking on the big picture here.

I'm not saying he was not awesome on the first games.

I'm not saying he's not a top CB.

I'll repeat the question, are you still giving a long term contract and big money to Talib? Or you think that the Pats should start to think on other approach and maybe just use the tag for having him here another season?

About the game, it was a great game, Panthers deserve the credit and we could have won too, mistakes happens, I'm just not comfortable with the Pats not playing smart and losing on fouls and not taking manageable risks, I'm not used to see this things.

You’re overacting on the Talib front he was matched up with Steve Smith a perennial all pro wide receiver who has played 1on1 against Talib 2 times a year for the majority of Talib’s NFL career. He was also returning from being injured and missing 4 weeks (including the bye) so it was not surprising that he was a bit rusty. Overall Talib has 5 solo tackles and 2 pass defends and Steve Smith had just 4 receptions for 62 yards and 0 touchdowns.

As far as him mixing it up with Smith I actually have no issue with it, he is competitive and sometimes you have to reel that in – I would always prefer to have a player that needs to reeled in than one that needs to be pushed.

That Pats are going to get jobbed by the refs more when BB and Tom retire?

I had no problem with it either actually. The Panthers had just gotten a first down so really it wasn't THAT costly. Had it occured on a 3rd down play where they didn't get the first, I'd be upset. I like the attitude Talib brings it's clear this defense has needed that since '05. And I too think he was either rusty or not close to 100% last night. The issue with Talib has nothing to do with his play or demeanor it's his durability.
