All draft picks are a risk though. If there's truth to the Mallett rumour and considering the fact that only one TE is off the board and the likes of Nix, Ealy, Latimer, Tuitt, Jernigan are all available as well, we could come out of round two in a potentially strong position. Trade Mallett for 33 if possible (?), trade 33 to the Raiders so they can get Carr and we're in a great position even with this high upside risk.

How do you know he hasn't fully recovered his first step? They've had doctors examine him. What have you got?

BB has worked him out since he tore his ACL and obviously feels comfortable with the pick. He came back better after his first torn ACL.

Oh and did you miss Ray Lewis (one of the greatest to play defense in the NFL) just gush about this kid on TV?

Yeah, its a risk but all draft picks are risks. They got a "top 10 talent" at the end of the first round.

Bill should've accepted Minnesota's offer of 40 & 108. I seriously doubt that Seattle would've taken Easley at 32 with Hageman, Jernigan, Tuitt & Nix all still available at DT and Ealy, Attaochu & Lawence at DE/OLB.

ACL's are really not that big a deal anymore. I bet the Pats checked his medicals.

I'm sure they did. But I imagine they also checked the medicals on Ras-I Dowling, Terrence Wheatly, Danny Amendola and Brandon Tate, etc and presumably got the green light on them too.

The opinions of their medical staff leave a lot to be desired.

I took a lot of heat for how high I had easley on my big board thread i posted about a month ago. I had him as the 11th overall player in this draft and he was #4 on my patriots board. Needless to say I am over the moon excited for this pick.

Fair enough; I do hope that he, and Bill, will be proven correct but his knees still care the poop outta me, especially at #29 overall. And there's also the Urban Meyer connection, which might be even scarier.

I hear ya. I didn't think they'd draft him because of the two ACL tears. It is worrisome, but I take solace in the knowledge that the Pats always do their due diligence, and BB doesn't tend to take risks in the first round.

Either way, this guy's film is fun to watch. Even though he appears undersized, his feet are so fast, his balance and bend are excellent and he absolutely never gives up on a play. It will be interesting to see where the Pats play him and how well he will fare against much bigger NFL linemen.

I had 4 of the first 5 correct with the right teams too. I certainly didn't see the Bills trading up for Watkins. While it certainly makes there offense very good at all the skill positions that was a really steep price.

I was calling Shazier to the Steelers for a long time. It just made too much sense for him to be a Polamalu type of player for them.

Ja'Wuan James looks to be a bit of a reach for the Fins.

I'm not a Pryor guy and think the bust potential is big so I'm not concerned with his being a Jet.

The talent of Easley is undeniable as is the risk. This is the biggest boom or bust Bill's made in his tenure here.

I'm not shocked Ealy fell out of the first.

So many good prospects left.

I don't like Lewis at all but I was immediately, reluctantly, impressed by him as an analyst. Some players have it, some don't. Irvin and Faulk don't. Lewis does.

As for Easley, I love the pick. Risky, sure, but when you're picking 28th-32nd constantly you don't get a shot at top ten type talent very often. If he flames out we'll be OK, it's a risk I'm OK with (not being a doctor).

I'm OK with the Patriots going Boom or Bust on almost all picks this year. We had so many injuries last year that showed we can handle if they don't boom. The only place I want a safe pick is at LB, our depth there is pretty much nonexistent at this point since Beauharnais is a total unknown.

We can put a pretty athletic defense out there if we're healthy. In our nickel we could have on the line; Chandler Jones, Easley and a dt Kelly/Jones/Armstead. Hightower can be moved around and play lb or come off the edge like he did at Bama. Mayo and Collins the other two lb's. Ninko came out for the nickel back. Our db's; Revis, Browner, McCourty, Dennard and prob Harmon. Might be the best we've had since about 06. I don't think a team could gash that run defense like Denver did last year. We should be able to dramatically reduce Wilfork and Kelly's snaps to keep them fresh for the long haul.

Watch the video, cap'n. It's clear as day, and every Seahawks writer confirms it. It's fine to not like the pick, but it's fiction to say that Easley would have been available at #40.
