Ray Rice suspended 2 games

Way to lay the hammer, NFL. Rice hit his wife harder than the NFL hit him.

Way to go Goodell.

You had a chance to nip this in the bud by bringing the hammer down on a guy who beat his fiancé unconscious, then drag her limp body onto an elevator... while on camera.

You whiffed.

So apparently, according to Goodell, doing supposed harm to one's own body in the form of substance abuse is far more grievous than doing intentional harm to another in the form of physical abuse??

All in all, Goodell performance as commissioner leaves a lot to be desired, to put it nicely, but to us all here at Patsfans, this observation is old hat.

Seriously do they even have real cops in Baltimore? Cops...Crooks what the diffference!

She was not his wife at the time. If she had been, he would have been given a warning and would have to take a dragging management class.;)

Imagine what he's gonna hear in the trenches after a tackle? I suspect he's due to a rough season.

Smoke weed. Get 4 games. Beat wife..get 2. NFL for ya

It's gonna be fun if he wear those pink things in September.

it's all about those jersey sales.

Wow. Are the NFL's disciplinary policies completely arbitrary, or just mostly arbitrary?

Substance abuse sanctions are fixed by negotiations with the NFLPA. Other misconduct sanctions, as here, are not.

That's a weak penalty that's about all I have to say about that.

True, but it doesn't change the fact of what other posters have said. The man knocked his wife out, was arrested for assault, and got less a penalty than someone taking a drug. It just doesn't make sense.
