I'd rather lose in the ALCS than get to the World Series and get totally outclassed like the Doofin Rays did, plus losing to a team from Philly would blow chunks.

lol i love it. f the rays and there pathetic fan base. they dont deserve a ws banner. dont feel sorry for rays fans. its not like they care that much anyway.

I'm a Phillies fan ya know. Yes, I'm a Rams fan and a Phillies fan.

Halloween in Philly with a victory parade to rival the Red Sox one in 2004...
Should be wild here tomorrow......

I have a feeling that the Phillies watched the Red Sox-Rays series very closely and saw how the Rays could be beaten.

I may be proven wrong, but that would be a stretch. Considering that it was 86 years vs 28 years, can't see anything coming close to the Red Sox parade.

"Should be wild here tomorrow......" The understatement of the century.

I see a lot of fans of most every sport express similar sentiments, and I just don't get it. So, it would be better to be say, the Yankees or Orioles, and not make the playoffs, than to be the Rays and make it to the World Series? Or it would be better to lose in the ALCS than in the World Series?

We heard the same thing last year after the Pats lost to the Giants, and it just seemed to be a lot of sour grapes from other fans at that time. Respectfully, I disagree with the concept of it being better to lose before the championship, than to not get there at all.

Keep in mind that they haven't won anything in 25 years, zip, nada, rien, (none of the big 4 sports)...Boston had 2 Super Bowl victories before the Red Sox party....
Schools are closing and even if they aren't, there won't be many attendees....Sons of Bill Simmons had some great Philly-style celebrations/mayhem...that and youtube.......

Good points all around by you; mayhem and destruction will be full tilt. Imagine the partying that will go on Friday day into night into the weekend.

Pretty scary now that you laid it all out.

Great, that's your opinion, good for you.

I'd rather lose in the ALCS than the World Series, to gag on the big stage like the Rays did sucks. They were toast after surviving the Red Sox in the ALCS; their big three of Upton, Pena and Longoria did sh!t, Longoria hit .100 for the series, Pena sucked too, pitiful.

I'm sure Bills fans were just thrilled with their prospects in the fourth strait Super Bowl they went to after getting waxed in the first three.............

The city has been without a title for 25 years, that was when the Sixers beat the Lakers. Still, the city with the longest drought is Cleveland. If correct, they have not won a major pro sports title, from the 4 major sports, in 48 years.
