Colts pull Manning after setting meaningless marks | ProFootballTalk.com
The Indianapolis Colts continue to make a mockery of the final two weeks of the season.

In theory, they pulled Peyton Manning last week midway through the third quarter to keep him healthy.

Yet Sunday, they put him on the field in snowy conditions for the specific purpose of setting meaningless milestones for his teammates.

The CBS announcing crew spoke throughout the first quarter that Manning seemed likely to leave after he made sure Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark reached 100 catches. It sounded like CBS was given a heads up from the team.

Sure enough, Wayne left the game immediately after his fifth catch gave him 100 for the year. On the next play, the Colts faced a third-and-four with Clark being one catch short of reaching 100.

Peyton Manning tossed the ball to Clark on a play that clearly had no chance for a first down. It lost seven yards. And Manning and Clark didn't return to the game after that, for safety reasons that apparently didn't exist until everyone had 100 catches.

It's bad enough the Colts don't try to win the game by pulling starters.

It's a joke they still choose to pad individual stats over trying to continue a drive.
yeah they are concerned about the health of their players.

Boo friggin Hoo.........Get over it

Colts won their first 14 games and earned the right to do whatever they wanted to these last few weeks

And how do you know there wasn't any contract incentives for Clark/Wayne reaching 100 catches? If so they both deserved it

And now that the Colts appear to be entering the playoffs healthier than they've been all year and rested.....

.........and the Patriots just lost the 2nd most important member of their offense for the season

LOL, the Colts can't play in the snow anyway, so who cares. There would have been no 16-0 regardless of their gutless performance last week.

I think its high time the Pats think about injuries. Maybe the Colts organization is correct. It's about winning a world championship not setting W/L records lest we forget what happened in 2006/2007. I personally would have taken a SB win over an undefeated season/ Wouldn't have you?

I am sick of these *******s celebrating Welker getting hurt, no matter what the reason is.

I just got home and logged on.... heard about it on the radio and saw it on TV... Damn that had to hurt... And Oh yea Welker YOU SUCK!

just got that off coltfreaks.. what scumbags no idea how welker sucks. Only took them a page and a half to start mentioning that polian did the right thing pulling starters.

IMO if you cheer a player getting hurt you are not a real football fan.

Sorry man, no way you can defend this. The Colts are known for padding their stats, you should know that. Never a bigger pu##y team in the history of the NFL. God I hope we get you gutless punks in the playoffs...oh wait, we lost Welker? booohoooooooo!!!! NOT. LMAO at your gutless joke of a team.

ban that Indy idiot

I NEVER call for a banning but this idiot doesn't deserve any access to this forum

Ironic, how after browsing through your Game-Thread, there are about 5 consecutive pages of Patriot fans taking turns wishing injuries on Bernard Pollard

Funny how that whole Karma thing can work out

And what exactly did I say that would warrant a ban??

what are you, a three year old? the Pats lost in the last minutes of the last game of the year on a freak once in a lifetime miracle catch with a completely healthy team and YOU think resting players would have made a difference? You are stupendously stupid

so that would make it ok for you to do it? don't pretend you are not happy Welker is hurt, you might not be all raw raw about it like some other fans would be but you are happy this happend for at least two reasons

1. if Wes is out for the playoffs it is one less thing to worry about if the Colts play them

2. you can use this as a way to justify the colts being gutless last week

Ha. White trash hillbilly rooting for the "Atlanta Braves" of football. Enjoy the bye week, I'm pretty sure the Colts won't be celebrating much longer after that. But you're a Colts fan, you know all about their playoff "success"...good old 7Wins 8Losses Playoff Manning will lead your team back to the old one and done. It happens quite a bit. :D

ok..thats fine. no need to justfy the colts pulled the starters due to injury scare. they were there to add to stats. what happned to weklker couldve happend to clark on the first drive. iam sure you wouldve supported going for 100 catches then.

Yea the team with 3 SBs in the decade needs to learn from the team with 1 fluke SB...

And just to add to that comment, remember that the one SB win of the Atltanta Bra....I mean Colts was when they played all out and didn't rest their players.

Classless dinks?

This is why the Patriots fans I talk to don't post on here. These silly comments, just look at fellow Patriots nation:

Haha. If you don't think they're a "gutless" team, then don't watch any tv, don't read any papers of blogs, and don't listen to sports radio. Because everybody calls them that, especially Indy fans and the Indy media market. But why let the facts get in the way.
