With the new hiring of Mike Shanahan in DC that now makes 7 HC the teams has had since 2000. The Pats have had one (BB) while the Redskins have had seven (Norv Turner 1999-2000, Terry Robiskie 2000, Marty Schottenheimer 2001, Steve Spurrier 2002-03, Joe Gibbs 2004-07, Jim Zorn 2008-09, Mike Shanahan 2010-?) none lasting more than 3 seasons. While I think Snyder tries to win he is a moron. Got me to thinking about who is the worst owner in the NFL.

Dan Snyder (Redskins) - loves to get big name free agents that almost always fail to live up to the hype. No stability at all in the coaching department as stated above.

William Clay Ford (Lions) Winning seasons in the 2000s - 1 and that was 9-7 in 2000. Vikings won 12 games this year while the lions won 12 combined in the last 4 years (2, 0, 7 and 3). Goes through HC fast (7 in the 2000s) but held onto Matt Millen at GM for WAY TOO LONG.

Al Davis (Raiders) - May favorite owner. Team was great under Gruden in the late 90s/early 00s going 38-26 in his 4 years in Oakland. So Davis trades/sells Gruden to the Bucs over a 'power struggle'. F Gruden Davis gets two first-round picks, two second-round picks and $8 million in cash. The year after Gruden left the team went 11-5, went to the SB and lost to Gruden and the Bucs. Since then the raiders have had seven consecutive seasons of 5 or less wins. With all of those draft picks (as well as the top 10 picks the Raiders have had this decade) the team should be stacked. Name great players on the team. If you could have anyone off the Raiders but had to pay him franchise money who would you take. CB Nnamdi Asomugha. Maybe Seymour or Janikowski. That it.

Those team are the Pats of the early 90s. Thank God for Mr Kraft.

I vote for the Lions owner for taking so long to fire Matt Millen...

Well, thank god he got BB and let him shop for the groceries. Kraft deserves some blame for the Pete Carroll years, no?

Some balme but still the team never had a losing record under Carroll (10-6, 9-7, 8-8). He gave him 3 years, figured out there was an issue and made a change.

no debate is necessary

for the combo of poor decisions on coaches, staff, drafting, public relations, outdated football philosophies, neverending ego, and incessant meddling it can only go to one man.

I still say that Carroll was given somewhat of a raw deal. Carroll was given a SB-caliber team and took it to the playoffs in consecutive years. In 97, Curtis Martin was out for Dec. The following year, Bledsoe was out vs JAX. Not great but it shows that he can at least got a team with talent to the playoffs.

Parcells left. Charley Armey left (who led the charge to hire **** Vermeil) for St. Louis and was responsible for setting the draft board.

IMO the blame for the post-Tuna Pats decline should be directed at Bobby Grier. By and large, his drafts, FA signings, cap management and undermining of Carroll (see Terry Glenn) really screwed up that team.

As soon as Parcells left, the decision was made that Martin was too
injured to ever return to form. The Patriots never made him a legitimate
offer.

Bobby Grier never left the office to look at draft prospects. He did
his drafting based on information from his scouts. Belichick, his coaches,
and scouts all look at prospects.

In Patriot Reign it explains that Kraft wanted to hire BB back when Parcells left but they were hesitant since he was so close to Parcells at the time and they'd just been burned big time by him. Whether it's true or not who knows, but that's what the book said.

Yep...just look at these drafts from the Grier era. Sheesh. Good/marginal ones IMO are in bold. Rutledge was a good blocker, but with hands of stone. Mitchell was serviceable. I give him a flyer on Katz and Edwards. Not much you can do there.
