Our fans are "dog-fakers"

I still don't know - at all - what the phrase "dog-fakers" means, but as its become a patsfans favorite ever since someone associated it with Randy Moss, I have to use it.

The stands were empty yesterday as the game ended - except for Ravens fans. How the hell are Patriot fans seriously going to question the guts & effort of guys like Moss & Brady - who busted their a**es all offseason and season - and then leave before the game is over - the final game, I might add, in a decade in which we were treated to some of the best football ever seen. That makes me sick. Screw our fanbase.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

It's definitely a fair weather atmosphere here in cold New England. Perhaps it's partially the fault of the organization / NFL for pricing their product above the level that average earner's wallets can afford, but also important is that people around here seem to expect things like "not losing a playoff game at home in 3 decades" to continue as a birthright.

People don't really like to think about it, and expect that something in the fresh Foxboro air keeps a winning tradition alive, but there really is no law that keeps the Patriots from falling to the back of the NFL pack. The 49ers are exhibit A.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

Not when the team is dropping dog poop on the field.

Seriously, I can hardly blame them. Especially after they had to endure the hell and costs associated with that overpriced shopping mall on RT 1.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

I've been heading back to the car early for years whenever the game has been decided in order to get the charcoal going for dinner and to set up for the 4pm game.........yesterday was no different

staying to the very end yesterday is a pretty stupid notion

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

I've read this board for years and finally decided to post today after reading all these shots at the fans for leaving early and booing.
I'm a season ticket holder for over 10 yrs and have hardly ever left before the 2 min warning and have never booed, in fact, I usually critcize fans who do boo.

But that performance yesterday was awful and deserves booing. I didn't expect this team to get to the Super Bowl, and yesterday's game was a toss up going in. But that team had no passion, intensity, or effort, and while I didn't boo, I can't criticize fans who did.

I left after ghost missed his kick in the 4th, down 20, on defense with 8 minutes left, no thanks. I don't need to watch Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, and the rest of them celebrate on that field

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

There was one play at the end, where the wire was following behind Brady as he scanned the field, and it showed almost half of the empty stadium. I felt heartbroken, because you know they were disappointed, but you could see them still trying even though there wasn't even anyone to watch. I just felt bad. They didn't play well, and the Ravens did, it happens. You don't give up on them though.

I would have been there til the bitter end if it was possible. I would have wanted to thank them for a great season. There was a time when 10 - 6 and a playoff berth was ****ing SPECTACULAR! What have we become? It's SB or die for us? Let's just get back to enjoying the game for what it is.

The only item I disagree with is the fact that they were still trying.

I have no concept of what is actually happening on the field so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the players were giving effort. But for all intents and purposes the Ravens played that game without a QB, they all but told us what they were going to do and we couldn't stop them. I hope that either the coaches or the effort. Because if that's actually the best we can with the talent then we have further to go than any of us could imagine.

I can only speak for myself, but I have attended all but two home games since 1994 and have NEVER left a game early, regardless of score. I have never booed the Patriots (although I've cursed a few select players on occasion). There are a few thousand of us diehards who hang around to the bitter end. ;)

As for Ravens fans in attendance yesterday: There were a few hundred, not all that many.

All this being said, our boys put in a piss-poor effort yesterday. It sure didn't feel like a playoff game from the standpoint of effort and intensity. Most of the fans were into it until things got totally out of control on the field.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

I booed yesterday; but stayed until the end. Many Pats fans in my section did the same thing.

On the other hand, we have some of the worst fans in the league who treat the game like a social event. Had a group of middle aged guys in front of us telling us to "shut the ___ up" because we were being too loud for them.. while they sat there making calls on their Blackberry/iPhones...

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

I don't appreciate being called a fair weather fan. I have had season tickets since 1993 and I left yesterday after the Ravens scored in the 4th quarter, along with many others who stayed until then. I am a diehard fan and was sorely disappointed with our team's performance. I booed a little and cajoled a lot. I even cheered when we made a handful of good plays. Didn't make a difference to what was happening on the field.

If you arm-chair fans are so great, why don't you shell out thousands of dollars each year, brave hours of traffic and finding an all day babysitter every time there is a home game; stand in line for an hour for the ladies room if you dare to have to go any time after kickoff; worry about whether you are going to find a parking space, etc., etc., etc. Since I have been a season ticket holder, in both the new and old stadiums, basically the same people show up year after year to cheer the team on. If you can do it so much better, then you should buy tickets and come to the games.

After coming from home last night, I felt last night was too early for me to respond this thread.

1. Any so-called Patriots fan on the waiting list that stayed home yesterday has no right to complain/whine/comment about the fans who did attend. As of Sunday morning, there was over 300 tickets available on the ticket exchange. If you are so ready to be a season ticket holder, prove it by getting off your butt and buy a playoff ticket when they are available. I am disappointed with the season ticket holders that bought playoff tickets when they had no intention of attending. I am disappointed with the waiting list members who did not take the golden opportunity to go to a playoff game.

2. In my section (314), people were stunned to boo. Yes, there were some booing at the stadium but there was also cheering even after the 0-24. We were cheering every first downs like it was a touchdown because we so badly want to believe. I tend to not to boo myself but fans are entitled to boo if they choose.

3. Far as people leaving, from my bird eye perspective (2nd to last row); fans were not leaving in large quantities until the middle of the fourth quarter. When they show the crowd just after half-time, it is misleading. If someone goes to the bathroom at halftime, they will not get back to the seats until after the 3rd quarter has started. Personally, I am surprised how many people who get to the game late every game.. There were several people who got to their seats when the Patriots were down 14-0.

4. We had 4 seats this year. I want to reduce seats down to 2 and my mom keeps them as 4. Guess who is on the phone trying to get so called Patriots fans to come to a game. When people say "I would love to go to a Patriots game", they really mean "I would love to go to a 1PM Sunday Patriots game against the Jets or Dolphins in September with no chance of rain".

Thank you from a fellow fan-who-was-there perspective.

If I wasn't ordered to San Diego, I would, and I already had it lined up to shell a grand out for one game next week had they made it past the Ravens. Still don't think you should leave, even if they didn't show up themselves. I seriously was heartbroken at the sight.

Yeah it was real bad, but so what? It's not like any of us could do any better. Although I did smoke the Ravens with the Pats on Madden earlier in the day on All-Madden. Yeah I play it a lot. ;)

Not boing the team becuase of the past is stupid, By this logic 49rs fans, Rams fans, Dolphins fans should never boo. A Tom Brady led team and a BB coached team should never have come out like that.

I'm rarely in support of booing teams and players, but the way they played in the first quarter, they absolutely deserved it.

It's not like they were just out-coached, but trying their hardest still. Many of the players gave a really lackluster effort with really stupid mistakes and looked as if they already lost and were just clock watching to go on vacation.

With the money spent to go to a game, fans didn't deserve that pathetic effort, and many of those players certainly deserved it. I honestly feel bad for the Faulks of the team who played like they had a chance.

Nice analysis. sounds about right to me.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

Geting out of Kraft's $40 parking lots or neighboring $50 lots is a major PITA. I do not blame any fan who left early Sunday with the piss poor lack of execution by the team from start to finish. Why sit in the cold to watch Ray Lewis et. al. celebrate only to take 90+ minutes to get out to RT 128 or RT 495? If the org wants the seats filled to the end, put a competitive show on the field.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

People need to redirect their anger and frustration at the team and not to the folks who attended the game who paid good money for seats, parking, etc.

The team played poorly yesterday. Be mad and upset with them.

Re: Our fans are "dog-fakers"

the stadium wasn"t even sold out...... For a playoff game!!!!!
