From Josh Miller on ESPNRadio yesterday:

Chad Jackson, excited to be in his first NFL game and a little nervous, goes over to Tom in pregame warm ups and asks if he wants to throw the ball around. Tom’s doesn’t do that as part of his pregame routine so he turns Jackson down. Later, when Josh is walking the field before the game, he sees Tom throwing the ball with Chad.

Our QB is a good guy.

Good to hear that Brady made a consession for the Rook. I know some players are quite religious about their pre-game routine. Maybe one of Brady's pre-game routines will end up being tossing the rock around with CJack (like those annoying shots you see of Manning and Harrison pre-game every other week).

I view that as a positive on Jackson as well. With his obvious physical talents, mental facalties and desire are what could hold him back, and tid-bits like this make it appear as if willingness to work is not an issue.

Kid showed some maturity in the post game too when he said that Tom is frustrated because he wants his superbowl caliber passing game back and WE just aren't there yet. Hearing similar comments from Gabriel and Caldwell. Tommy has that ability to make guys want to run through walls for him. He is reeling in his next generation of wall-runner-throughers.

Another nice visual snipet I noticed when I watched the game again on NFLN was when Koolaid (that's his choice of nickname) scored his TD. Tommy was beaming and running towards him with outstretched arms and his shiny new RB who had not celebrated at all jumped right into his QB's waiting man hug embrace. Then he did his Corey Dillon duckwalk impression. These are all positive signs of getting it as a Patriot.

The love....I am feeling it!

So glad you mentioned this Mo. I noticed it too. Patriot love warms my heart.

I love it, all of it! Brady to Jackson.....touchdown! For years to come I hope.

Great story!

I can see one of those scary Gatorade commercials where pro athletes are depicted as kids with tiny bobble like heads where a young Chad Jackson knocks on his neighbor Tom Brady's door and asks him to come out and play.

Who the heck is the female in that commercial..? She's the only one I can't identify...

It's the US softball player - believe her name is Jenny Finch (spelling?).

Maroney seems to have fit in live a glove. Not just on the field but his personality off the field. Lots of good times should be ahead with him.

One last interesting note on Jackson was that he handed the ball to the ref and Watson had to retrieve it for him as it was his first NFL TD. Nice bit of teamwork from Ben but also Jackson seemed more interested in having scored a TD that getting his ball and saying "look what I did".

Amen to that brother!:rocker:

I wonder what exactly made Tom come around.

He probably just came to his senses and thought "screw my pregame routine, I need all the practice I can get this these guys. If they are willing to get out there, I'd better get out there too".

Probably the sad little puppy dog look on Chad's face.....Really i think TB realized that hey this is the kid's first game i should do this so he does feel like i rejected him before we even start the game.

Smart play on TB's part keep the kid upbeat and not deflate his ego before his first game even starts.

I also think that Chad's TD was by design rather then random chance of the game....BB wanted Chad to get it out of the way so no pressure builds up to get the first one.....very smart.

Maybe, but I think it's more just that Jackson is a good receiver. He wasn't in on that many passing plays, and he beat his man three times.

Gotta love his fist pump, too.

I like what I saw of Chad Jackson on Sunday. Yes, he did drop the long pass, but that drive ended with his TD catch, anyway. And his first catch showed terrific concentration. I think TB will look for him often vs. the donkeys.

Caldwell had 2 catches, both for 1st downs, both on 3rd-and-5s. Not bad.

Troy is Troy, First Team All-Patriots.

The jury's still out on Gabriel, however. His deep game is needed to complement Troy's and Caldwell's short/intermediate games. There's a seat waiting for you on the Love Train, Doug. Time to get on board.

Another item noted by Randy Cross during the game, Tommy first went to Reche and celebrated with him after Chad's TD. Cross reported that Reche ran a complimentary route that cleared out the middle for Chad's crossing route. For those who have the game on tape, watch Tommy and Reche grin at each other in the huddle like kids up to no good after Reche's first grab along the sideline.

Great point, Box! I was at the game, so I didn't hear Cross' explanation. I thought it odd that Brady wasn't celebrating first with the rook. You cleared that up for me, thanks.

I see Caldwell getting better by the week. Nice to see the Reche haters have dissipated a bit.

Nice move Ben!

I love the classy move of handing the ball to the ref! I've noticed this more in the college ranks than in the Pro's. It seems to me in these few first games that I've seen our players do it more than most. I believe that Dillon, Reche(sp?), and Chad have all taken this 1st class route. A refreshing change from the showboating IMO.
