You're probably right, but until I see Pass actually DO something I'm prone to stick with my opinion.

I really do try to be fair in my thoughts, but in this case I don't feel as though I'm not. We're talking about a primarily ST player who rarely touches the ball on offense. It's not like he's Faulk or Brown where for each mistake you can forgive it five plays later for the big play they just gave you. Pass is a JAG, that I've seen.

No, you're more than fair.

I just think Pass is a player that can do more things than other players can....there's value in that. How much, though? Is he a JAG? Yeah, maybe, but I don't line up next to him. Would I miss him if he were gone? Perhaps not...

But the easy question is, have I missed him to this point of the season? No.

You're a piece of work. The data YOU REQUESTED gets shown to you and attributed to a source (for which you can only post a sarcastic "gee, who woulda thunk they have stats" kind of answer) and all you can do is write "It just seemed weird".

no dummy that wasnt the point at all. i was being nuetral in the debate i was reading and wanted a full answer. why should i look up the info when you just did it??? the freaking jerk answer is "nfl.com." no freakling kidding nfl.com has the stats. you really need to get over yourself. you act like you are a football god just because you had the data right there and i asked for it. the only thing bigger than our need at WR is your ego. I cant believe i am allowed to post on the same bored as you. go to vermont and see if they will let you marry yourself. gay marriage is still legal there.

You're very kind.....

Wrong. 1) Apples to Apples: In the first 6 years of each career, the number of touches (including ST's) between Brown and Pass are actually very close. 2) The weight disparity between the tacklers and the ballhandler are about the same: Brown-LB's and CB's vs. Pass-DT's and DE's.

Furthermore, the average number of receptions per year in Brown's first 6 years was 16.83. My point is not to compare Patrick Pass to Troy Brown who is probably one of the 10 greatest career Patriots of all time (along with Nance, Capelletti, Hannah, Morgan, Tippett, Bledsoe, Armstrong, Brady and Nelson). My point is to show that the harping and whining on this board about that one play by some superficial observers is bogus to the nth degree.

As he begins his 6th season, Patrick Pass just had corrective surgery on a foot that has hampered him since college. I wish I could find the article I read this summer where his doctors said that the procedure could well improve his speed and acceleration.

It's incredible how so many here are willing to send him packing in favor of "1.9 yards and a cloud of dust" Evans. Belichikaholic saying that he has "tremendous heart and never fumbles" is hilarious. I know thousands of football players who can fall down after getting a handoff in a heap and hold onto the ball. Is Evans as good a ST tackler as Pass? Is he as good a lead blocker? (Ask Corey Dillon in 2004 what Pass meant to him that year). Can Evans catch 50 passes out of the backfield and average over 9 yards per catch as Patrick Pass has done the past 2 years?

What's hilarious is the sight of Patrick Pass grimacing and then fixing his socks every time he gets up off the ground.

Without Heath Evans we don't win that Miami game last year. Where was Patrick Pass? Oh that's right, he was at home with his sore toe. Mean while, Teddy and Hobbs are out there with broken wrists.

What's even more hilarious is you trying to compare Patrick Pass to Troy Brown after 6 years. If you want to compare, try Patricks 6 years to Maroneys 5 games.

Everyone got on his case when he fumbled after blowing his hamstring... they laughed when he said it felt like getting shot.

But I've both been shot in my thigh and blown a hamstring and Pass is speaking the truth.

No amount of football willpower could have prevented me from grasping the back of my thigh when I got shot, nor when I tore my hamstring - so that fumble is a non-issue for me

Your comparative testimony, J6Pat, seals it for me.
Patrick stands exonerated.

Heeeeere we go again...

It's the "Pass won't get cut" thread all over again.

But I'm not getting involved!

MoLewisRock's post said it all:

Patrick Pass is not eligible to come off the PUP until October 23rd!

Yeah, seriously. This has come up a few times since the 'weenie fumble' and everytime I say the same things. Seriously, you could go back and copy each of my posts from each thread and they'd probably say just about 90% of the same things word for word. Haha.

I fully expect both Pass and Evans to be on the roster.

Evans 1.9 YPC number comes off dive plays into short yardage defenses, almost all of them from the up-back position which means he has no opportunity to read the blocking and cut to an open hole. If the O-line doesn't move someone he goes nowhere - oddly enough some of the usual suspects also called for Dillon to be cut in preseason when his YPC were affected by those type of plays run from the tailback position. You just can't please whiners.

Pass, like Faulk, was considered for WR at one point. He is an excellent receiver out of the backfield and like the rest of the RBs, can line up wide and create one-on-one mismatches with LBs and many Ss. Watching him on tape last season you saw a RB who ran hard, I can see why BB would consider him an every down back - with his relative youth, he just may be Maroney's low cost back-up after Dillon retires. Pass is an excellent open field blocker, that makes him valuable leading off tackle and on Special Teams. Speaking of Special Teams, everybody spanks their monkey over Ben Watson's hustle play on Champ Bailey - but Patrick Pass had a very similar play in the Carolina game last season, running down Gamble and forcing him back into the pursuit where Watson made his first hustle tackle.

I hope Shmessy is right about the results of his foot surgery, more speed and quickness will really open some eyes if it works.

Alk: Shalise Manza Young reported he was wearing a #88 cap the other day - obviously protesting the loss of Christian Fauria.

Off course, the point is moot until Pass actually comes off Pup.

Maybe he just gets tons of free skullcaps from the 'pro-shop' trash bin?

But that would mean he's not protesting organizational policies, what will the conspiracy boobs talk about?
