Was it me or did it sound like they were randomly playing the Bruins goal horn at the game today?
Has anybody heard this before, as I never have and don't understand it.

Pardon me, but I can't stand the Bruins hype and bandwagon that is seemingly mixing in all over.
They blew a 3-0 lead in the playoffs, they weren't the team which came with a quarter of winning the title (that was the Celtics), I don't like the Bruins being associated with the Pats.
I'll always remember the Bruins for being the bandwagon fanbase that 3 seasons ago had fewer season ticket holders than Atlanta.
I don't like how suddenly THEY get to associate themselves with more mainstream Boston and the bigger dogs like the Pats...who are they to do so and be encouraged to do so?

Pardon me, but the Celtics were the ones who almost won it all last year and have been to two finals the last 3 seasons. If any of the winter teams deserves a bandwagon and props at a Pats game, it's the Celtics.
The Bruins have done nothing to earn to it..I don't know why in New England a basketball team with 1 title in 3 years, 2 title appearances in 3 years, is being bumped for a stupid hockey team which blew a 3-0 lead.

I was disappointed when scanning the crowd on TV today and seeing 2 people in bruins jerseys...and none in Celtics jerseys.
Just don't get the sudden Bruins love when 3 years ago they were the NE Revolution popularity wise and have accomplished NOTHING but shame lately while the Celtics have been kicking butt.

Let's hope the goal horn is 1 and done.

I don't get why anybody would wear a Bruins jersey to a Pats game...hockey is a smidgen as popular the NFL...the Bruins a fraction as popular as the Pats...this is football season...the Bruins have been a source of local shame.
You should be wearing Pats stuff...or if not them at least the other winter team (the Celtics) that actually have accomplished something noteworthy (2008 NBA title...2010 NBA conference champs) and actually have the bigger fanbase and stranglehold on Boston winter sports popularity.

I hope those who went in the crowd can report many more people wore Celtics than Bruins gear...and overall few if any wore Bruins gear.
I can't stand them getting fused into the mainstream over the Celtics (or at all)..given how bandwagon that fanbase is (see 2007 attendance) and shameful that organization is.

Heard it too. I thought that was a Vikings foghorn or something. Had to double check and make sure the game wasn't in Minnesota.

I don't watch any Hockey so I wouldn't know about it being a Bruins thing.

They played it before every Vikings offensive possession. I guess it was a signal to get the crowd into it. I think if they only used it on big plays, then it would be a lot more effective

Why...suddenly are the Pats associating themselves with the Bruins?
Why legitimatize the Bruins?
What've they done?
I don't like this at all...if anything...give the Celtics props before that bandwagon team.

I thought it was kind of cool myself ... but it's easier to appreciate it if you're a local homer fan. The Bruins of the last few years are moving away from the image of disgust. The team is built around many of the same attributes as the parents in terms of team unity, desire and dedication. it was nice to see some respect thrown their way but maybe just once a season is enough.

However ... even though I thought it was nice I don't think it fit in with the Patriots ... it's the sound of the Bruins just as much as the Bee Gee's you should be dancing is part of the Celtics. I associate Ozzy ith the Patriots, U2 with the Patriots and rock music in general with the Patriots ... if they are looking for some new sounds then I think they should stick with the rock music format ... it's what the fans are ued to for the team.

I kept thinking of War of the Worlds. Was expecting players to start getting vaporized.

My feeling when I heard it on tv, was it was a Viking horn from their fans. I am pretty sure I heard the same sound in another game the Vikings played. Were there a lot of Vikings fans ?

Probably something they did just to insure everyone could find something to biatch about after the game in case we won...

Honestly, this fandom is twisted.

People, please. It was a fog horn. You know. To keep with the lighthouse theme at Gillette.

It has/had nothing to do with the Bruins or the Vikings.

That was a FOGHORN. And it's been a part of the stadium for a while. It's associated with the LIGHTHOUSE at Gillette.

This isn't the first time it's been used.

As for the Bruins popularity, many people walked away from hockey due to the strike and the stupid comments that some of the players made. My love for the game didn't wane, but my support of the NHL did. I followed them with just passing interest the past few years, but it's been steadily growing again. Of course, it also has helped that the idiot players who ran their mouths have also been retiring like crazy.

That being said, there is a huge difference between a hockey jersey and a basketball jersey in terms of warmth. Personally, I wouldn't wear a Bruins Jersey to a Pats game, but then I have Pats Jerseys to wear.

I thought this thread was a joke.. How could someone not realize it was a fog horn when they were showing the light house... Its the Pats version of the air siren for the Jets..

I thought it was a joke as well. Can't believe people actually posted their disdain for the Bruins.

I can guarantee you it wasnt Vikings fans making the horn sound. And yes, I would say there were a fair amount of Vikings fans. A lot more than I expected

OMGZZ!!! How DARE anyone wear a Bruins jersey to a Pats game without consulting hudlander! I am just APPALLED that people would be both Pats AND Bruins fans. The nerve!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I really liked that foghorn sound.

Thought it was great. More Fog horn. I was at Jest stadium and they play the siren before defense goes on the field. Similar concept.
