Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

I really hope Wright gets well soon, and I write this not as a Patriots fan first but as a fan of a long, healthy life.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Wow, I really hope it isn't that bad. Hope that concussion doesn't have long term effects.

Absolutely. If he is still this bad after this many weeks, then he ought to be on IR, though I will also admit that one thing that CAN help his recovery is the daily interaction with, and support of, his teammates.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Brain injury is not well understood and outlier cases, apparently this is one, are totally unpredictable.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Maybe (and I hope for Wrights health) Someone is feeding Borges ****.

Maybe it's Borges who has the head injury, he did a article praising BB and saying he should be Coach of the Year.

Indeed. One of the things that is becoming more understood is that even with minor concussions, the effect is cumulative over a lifetime. A series of smaller concussions, especially those not diagnosed as such, can add to the seriousness of what might otherwise be considered a simple concussion.

In evidence, I'd refer readers to Ted Johnson, and how he likely had more minor or undiagnosed concussions than reported, and how they led to the end of his career, as well as other emotional problems after he retired.

Wright might not have gotten his bell rung with a vicious hit, but rather a solid, but more "normal" one that was the final stop in a series of concussions.

So true. Forget about football. Mike needs to get better to be healthy for the rest of his life. I hope he has some good family and other support who will counsel him to quit if things are really this bad.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Man, he was playing so well.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Poor guy gotta feel for him...It cannot be a nice experience having these type of symptoms for so long. One can only hope he makes a full recovery from this.

On another note we had certainly had our fair share of injuries this season that have flown under the media radar. Get sick of hearing about Indy and even the Jets and who they have lost!!

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

If he is as bad as Borges says he is, why are we tying up a roster spot??

This is the bit of hope I'm clinging to, for Mike's sake -- no IR, even now.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

Hopefully it's just a case of Borges asking Wright if he's been watching / listening to him, Wright saying no, and Borges assuming the 'no' is from the concussion when it's actually because he sucks.

I'll probably wait to see what the team, Reiss, or Rap have to say. But like I said earlier, Pepper Johnson seemed pretty down when he was talking about it.

I'm not confident in his return at this point.. and hoping that Wright is just alright as a person.

i know girl got hit with a softball, had similar concussion, cant watch loud things, or go to movie theaters, cant workout....they consistently have headaches all day............it shes had it for almost a year, so this sounds bad

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

There's no situation so serious Borges won't reduce it to a flippant remark. I'll wait for a credible reporter on this.

That was my question. Why isn't he on IR? Obviously it's serious, however if there isn't a chance of him coming back this year one would think he'd have been IR'd.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

He's had a serious concussion. If he is fit to play this season, he will return. There's no news involved here, we knew this before the Borges "article" (more like a bunch of one liners).

Brace....Wright...Deadrick

and Pryor just returned from injury and has an eye injury now :(

WTF!!!

Pryor got poked in the eye. It's not like he had his eyeball popped from it's socket or anything.. Pryor will be fine, though he'll probably add a face shield.

I second this question - it's the same one that I had. If it's that bad then why isn't he on IR at this point?

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

No film, TV or video games is SOP with all head injuries. The thinking is to let the brain rest and recuperate. Rodgers wasn't allowed to watch film prior to the Pats- Green Bay game and is one of the reasons why he didn't play. Wright won't be allowed to watch TV until he's pronounced well again and that could come tomorrow, next week or next season. Granted, he had a serious one but watching TV isn't the measuring stick.

Re: Borges: Bad news on Wright

IF this is true, I really hope that Wright doesn't return to football until he is completely cleared by doctors and he has no lingering effects from this concussion. There is no need for anyone to suffer from brain damage caused by a game if there is anyway to avoid it.

Hopefully, as a fan, Wright gets better, is cleared by doctors and is able to suit up again and play. However, seeing what happened to Collie this year I am torn.
