"The Patriots first pick of the 2011 draft will be running back..."

I have a funny feeling that a RB will be the first choice. Gawd I hope not but...

I don't trust the Patriots to use a high pick on an offensive player. Last draft they went after Montario Hardesty....

Please make this pick a pass rusher....

I see no reason that BJGE should lose his starting job.
#1. He does not dance
#2. He always falls forward
#3. He has NEVER fumbled

That is pretty much all the Pats need in this offense. Think back to all the drive killing redzone fumbles by Maroney. BJGE has earned the starting job, do the Pats need to draft a few more back, yes, but do they need a starter, hell no.

I will second what FreeTedWilliams posted. And, would also like to add that we have a helluva young backup too. Woody!!

I just can't see BB taking a running back with our first pick. Such a choice would actually be a disservice to the organization. With the Firm and Woody, our starting tandem is set. With our other 3 backs on the wrong side of 30, we will need a free agent pick up and should draft a kid in round 3-6, depending on who they like.
While I was not initially in favor of drafting a DE in the first round, I have com around to this way of thinking and now think its imperative that the Pats do so. I'd also like to see OLB in the first and OL help in second. Drafting to these "needs" is the right way to go, whether its by trading down or even up.

There is a snowball's chance in hell that the pats select a RB in the 1st round with either pick.

Yeah I don't see that happening either. We're in great shape at RB right now even with Taylor and Morris probably not returning next year. There's no doubt in my mind we may use a late round pick on a RB, but I don't see any way of using our first pick on one.

RB seems to be an area that can accomodate a draft pick on the roster. I can`t see it being in the first three picks though. I think there`ll be a value pick in the mid rounds to add to the rotation.

I would never say never with BB when it comes to drafting, but did you see Ingram yesterday? What a beast!

If Ingram could prove to BB that he can catch the football, it is not beyond the thought of possibility that BB takes Ingram.

Ingram.....

1.) Runs downhill
2.) hardly ever fumbles
3.) follows blocks and hardly ever loses yardage
4.) is a first down machine

Ingram is not......

1.) A pas catcher
2.) does not play ST
3.) Is not great at picking up the blitz
4.) eternally injured or beat up

My guess is BB passes on Ingram, much as he did Mathews,even though he is familiar with both fathers as pros.

The Pats definitely need another bell cow RB in my opinion to replace Taylor and to back up BJGE in case of injury, but no way would I use a 1st rounder. Mid to late round pick, UDFA or veteran FA works for me.

Lots to pick from in this draft. Don;t forget Clayton on our practice squad, BB seems to like the kid. Maybe Ivan is molding a player that can contribute.

I personally like Thomas of K State. He may be bigger than BB likes and he may put the rock on the turf more than BB likes, but he is a versatile back that can contribute as a runner, receiver or blocker.

They're fine at RB with BJGE(RFA), Woodhead and Faulk most likely coming back. Sammy Morris is a FA in 2011 so if they don't bring him back I'd like to see them get another big back into the mix. A player that I like(it's early though)without a big price tag is USC's Allen Bradford. He's played STs and is a big tough runner with a bad attitude. He should be a low to possibly mid-round pick if he moves up a little like I think he might: Check him out:

Now that the draft order is settled: I don't see Ingram getting past Miami.

doesnt make a lot of sense, BJGE and Woodhead already compliment Brady well, why draft so high someone who takes time away from all three?

Especially because lines make runners anyway, Crumpler leaving took 600 yards away from Chris Johnson, upgrade the O line first because it will have a better effect on the rushers than upgrading the running backs will on the o line

As much as I love Ingram I wouldn't be able to spend a mid first round pick on him with the current RB situation the Pats have. BJGE has clearly established himself as a legitimate starting RB and Woody provides a nice compliment. One guy I do like in the mid rounds is Jamie Harper out of Clemson. He has a ton of potential but has never really lived up to it. He has the size to run over you or the speed to run around you, plus he is a great recieving RB. He's only a Junior but I could easily see him declaring because he is stuck behind Andre Ellington on the depth chart. He has already been a backup for 3 years so I dont know what he can gain by going back to Clemson. If he does declare he would be an interesting guy to have a look at in the 4th or 5th round.

No way .

I say 4 spots for RB and 1 fringe player.

1)Green
2)Woody
3)Faulk woody/faulk share the roll. faulk can also be an inside runner maybe woody will develop that but for now both will be a nice to have. smaller guys do get dinged up if over used.Against blitz heavy,good run defence you can rotate them and not over use one
4)Draft pick - 3rd to 4th round pick.
5) 7th rd or udfa back.

Why would the Pats want a guy with a bad attitude?
I'd like the Pats to draft a backup to develop behind BJGE and maybe give them something a little bit different. Morris and Taylor are too injury prone to count on.
