Ignoring for a second that we're only at 88 or so right now anyways, why in the bloody hell would you IR Spikes or Fletcher to free a roster spot at this point, unless they're missing limbs? You've got 30 or so other guys to cut ahead of them that dont have a ******* chance in hell of making the roster.

So did anyone here actually see the injury when it happened? Did he get stepped on, get his thumb caught in someone's equipment? Any ideas?

On the first possession of the game, he tackled Blount right near the line of scrimmage, right around Blount's knees/shins. I rewatched it and couldn't really tell what happened, but he was holding his hand when he got back up; I guess Blount's knee probably came down on it? Hard to tell, for anyone with the nfl.com preseason package it happens at 0:02:36

I said this in a previous post but I'll say it again... After the above play, Fletcher jumped up and Carter gave him a really hard low-five for making the play. Fletcher grabbed his thumb/hand after that but there's no way of knowing if it was the play or the slap that caused the injury.

Anyone know if there's a video containing this play on the YouTube?

I'm not good at recognizing all of these guys out of uniform. Help me out here...

L to R: (no idea), Gronk?, Edelmen, Dominic Purcell?

First three are Fletcher, Gronk, Edelman. Last one looks kinda like Ninkovich, but I don't know for sure.

As long as it's not on his leg I have no problems with it... LB's can play with a cast. In fact, some can make one hell of a weapon out of it...

I am sure Bill Belichick will give a very detailed medical analysis of Fletcher's condition at tomorrow's press conference, before handing the microphone over to the Patriots' team doctor for further details and more specific answers to questions about Fletcher's condition.
