Dear god - CNN would make the calmest person in NYC nervous. They are running non-stop round the clock coverage of how f*cked we all are.

Whatever, I got out of the city and am staying at my in-laws house in northern NJ for the weekend. Now time to go stock up on batteries. woohooo

CNN is creaming in their pants about this potential disaster. You could tell how giddy they were when the earthquake hit this week.

Separated at birth.

Great,great,actor...I'm a big fan of british crime drama's.Got an all-region dvd player that will play PAL discs.Have the complete boxset of "Prime Suspect",1488 minutes!(lol).......Helen Mirren(be still my heart).:woot::ukflag:

I'm in Vienna, VA. We are probably in the orange zone for more moderate danger but I'm not really sure I'm reading the threat level map on weather.com correctly. It's hard to say exactly because the map isn't precise. I'm worried because my 104 year old Victorian is surrounded by trees/foliage. And we already have a roof leak that has done cosiderable ceiling damage to one of our bathrooms. We're having a partial re- roof done ( can't afford a new one all at once, have to do bits and pieces) but obviously not until after this storm and I shudder to think of what the ceiling will look like. We're cutting a hole in the ceiling and sticking a bucket under it, I think. Anyway, good news is we're on a hill, so hopefully no flooding.

May need more than a bucket. Or do what I once did. Had a roof leak in the middle of winter, no roofer could get through the ice, so I punched a hole in the ceiling, put a plastic concrete mixing tub up there, punched a hole in the tube, hooked up a hose and sealed it, ran it to a bathtub!

We might use a big cooler.

Apparently, New York civil defense officials have been in talks with Rex Ryan (Jabba Wrecks) over the last 24 hours about strategies to stall Irene. One reported option is feeding him copious amounts of baked beans, aiming his ass in the storm's general path, and letting him break wind. The only concern there is collateral damage and being able to get enough beans shipped to East Rutherford in time.

The other concern is that he begins to speak to the storm and convince it to go away, and all of the hot air that comes out will strengthen the storm to a category 5 storm.

First off, my family first, my next loves are Patriots, Weather, and skiing.
I am planning on going back to college for Meteorology at WCSU (western Connecticut State University. I have been tracking this hurricane for about a week.

Whats coming exactly:

The GFS and NAM(weather models) have started to tread west after the next GFS run it will be pretty clear what is coming. It will come up the coast as a Cat 3 Hurricane weakening when it hits NC. By the time it hits NYC and Southern CT, it will be a category 1 hurricane. Winds of Excess of 60-80 per hour depending on the exact track of the storm. If it moves more west then Western CT, Eastern New York such as westchester, Western Mass will be hit the hardest. If that doesnt happen then Eastern New England will have the brunt of this hurricane. Expect Flash Floods (Rain 4-10 inches), Power Outages, Isolated Tornados, Trees down. The rest of New England will be hit by tropical storm strength wins as it moves inland will weaken.

I have always criticized the Hurricane predictors because they never coordinate the expected storm arrival with the timing of the High Tides. That is way more definitive of the expected damages than just the windspeed.

I always remember the comedian who responded to a friend who expected to not evacuate and stay for the Hurricane, and go outside to face the 100+mph winds.

He said it is not the 100+ mph wind, it's what in the wind like, the Ford F-150 that hurts, when it hits you...

Irene presents 2 problems with the tides. First Irene is moving slowly so that it is expected to strike at high tide because it will linger over a tidal cycle. Secondly its present great size makes it as a CAT 1 as effective as a CAT 2 in generating storm surge, the integral sum product of wind over water.

I have never seen a negative fear mongering paranoid ****** like them in my life. **** them

I'm in the Manchester, NH area. Just hope I don't lose power.

It' OK. The Patriots will get Tim Teebow and God will spare us. (The Jets, mmm, not so much.)

Kraft needs to stop being cheap and sign Irene, the final piece to an elite defense.

I'm confused. NYC Mayor Bloomie is shutting down the T at noon, but the Jints and Jests play across the rivah at 2PM tomorrow. Does this make sense?

About as much sense at both New York teams playing home games in New Jersey.
