Or not? I love Benjamin Watson as much as anyone but it sure is nice to not have to be giving up the ball all the time.

We had a couple of long, clock-killing drives yesterday. Would those have been possible with Watson in the lineup instead of Thomas?

Maybe during this time off, Watson will shake off the turnover bug that had bitten him (and the team) here recently.

i think it is a coincidence.

its called workign on holding onto ball in practice

it think too it was a coincidence

a really like Ben Watson and i am sure he will show soon he is a terrific player

i'm thinking if now Graham could really have had his last year with us...

yesterday Dave Thomas was really impressive

his best game, no doubt, in our uniform

Watson had a rough stretch but so did the whole team.

Anyone know how many fumbles watson has had?

Based on what I saw out of Dave Thomas yesterday, I say resign Graham and trade Watson for the highest pick we can get for him in the offseason.

Man ... Thomas has one good game ... and he's King of the mountain and
Watson needs to taken out with the trash ..... come on man
.... give him some time before sending him to canton.
Did you really think about this for more than a few seconds?

do u not know the potential that Watson has? its not every draft u get a TE who runs 4.4 and is very strong..

Absolutely agreed. Even though he drives me nuts some times, I think he should be given a long leash - guys with such FREAKISH ability (that is the only word that fits him) come by rarely...
When I think of the 'great' tightends taken in the draft at high positions with franchise changing expectations (only Winslow, Jr and Shockey come to mind), I'd take Ben and let him make his mistakes with the hopes he breaks one from time to time.

Finally, after last year's play in the Denver game chasing down Champ Bailey - I came away with the utmost respect for his ability and approach. Just amazing...

NFL Stats say 3 this year -- 1 last year.

* That's 3 fumbles out of 49 receptions. It may not seem like that many to some, but if he were a 250 carry running back it'd work out to 15 fumbles which the RB likely wouldn't reach because he'd have been benched. No, I'm not suggesting they bench, cut or shoot Watson. But ball security is surely something he has to work on.
One thing, IMO he's had too many of is dropped passes. For the 1st 8 or 9 games he seemed to have 1+ drop per game. Maybe Thomas can show him what good hands are. I can find how many dropped passes the Patriots have in total, 25(according to Stats.com) but not broken down by the player who dropped them.

They really need all three of these guys... both Graham and Watson are injury-prone, and Graham is head and shoulders above the others as a run-blocker.

This is crazy,man....Dave Thomas had a very good game and hope to see more good games to come.....Wastson is a beast no question about....Like to see a resign for Dan....We need our TE.....This is football, player get hurt need players to set in....If Dan dosen't sign,we will draft another TE....BB & SP loves there TE.....I wouldn't be suprised if draft another....GO PATS!!!!

One thing I've started doing this year, that I never used to, was get nervous about our guys fumbling. That's especially true on kick and punt returns, and when Faulk touches the ball. At least No. 12 is not interception prone.

if you ever want to trade Ben Watson, go back and watch him run down Champ Bailey. I can deal with his TO bug right now. He'll get past it and will be a BEAST for us for many years.
