Broncos/Patriots matchup

Tim Tebow's season would be the ultimate sports movie if a) he beats the Patriots, b) shuts up Terrell Suggs and beat the Ravens, and c) wins the Super Bowl.

Disney would be all over it!

I know.. But today there was some pretty blatant ones. I mean, I watched one O-linemen dive 3 yards to try and take out a Pitt D-linemen early in the game.

That's how we lost Brian Cox to a broken leg. Dirty players playing dirty. It's one thing to play hard and through the whistle. It's another to take cheap shots, especially when being coached up on how to do it. Denver has always been that way, and I'd be real interested in taking another look at how Carter got injured after thinking about this.

Carter's was a non-contact injury. Aren't the principals of Denver's zone blocking scheme (Gibbs, Kubiak) long gone, anyway?

Maybe Im wrong, but Im pretty sure its legal to make out a DLs legs at the line of scrimmage as long as hes not engaged with another blocker. I dont see anything dirty about it all. Im sure the Pats do it as well. If they dont, they should.

Damn. 316 passing yards against the #1 passing defense in the NFL. Tebow just threw for more yards than any quarterback this season against the Steelers. 50 yards rushing. 2 passing TD's and 1 rushing TD, and zero turnovers. That kid is incredible. Lets hope his magic runs out against the Patriots next week !! Roll Pats !!

In this game Tebow was basically playing against the Pittsburgh backups- no Ryan Clark, no Hampton and Kiesel, and Polamalu, not only slowing down but having such a hard time with the option because it requires you to be patient and not overrun the play, and you know how much Polamalu loves to gamble.

I wouldn't overrate the relationship between McDaniels and Tebow- the option was John Fox's idea as a way to maximize Tebow's potential, and when McDaniels was there, Tebow was mostly a 3rd string QB, IIRC, so I'm not sure there was much opportunity to know him inside out.

We haven't won our 1st playoff game yet.

Exactly. As I've been pointing out for a while, the one sure thing about our opponent was that they'd be coming in with a 1-0 record in the playoffs.

Could be. I'm hoping Josh dishes the strengths and weaknesses of most of the Bronco players, not just #15.

Their is no match up. Its ridicules. This was gone over with the 1st NE and DEN game. The outcome will be no different. And the any given day argument is old.
This is and 8-8 team like the Seahawks that have snuck into the playoffs, by beating a good team with injuries.

The fairytale ends in Foxboro, anyone that thinks different drinks more than we do, lol, or is a DEN fan. You don't equal Tomlin to BB, or Ben to Brady. NE is a professional engine. BB does not give a rats butt about losing or who he is facing or the media, your boys will be ready to play.

This is not SF/DET/GB its The Broncos for god sakes.

Tebow threw much better today than he has at any point this season. If he throws like that next week, it's going to be a difficult game for us. Offense needs to come out blazing and get up on them quickly.

I tend to think this game will be a lot closer than the first one, but I think the Pats are going to win and blow out Baltimore in the AFCCG, if they beat Houston.

Pherein, because the Patriots D is so weak and ineffectual any team is a threat. The Broncos played the Patriots pretty evenly until they started to turn the ball over.
The 2 keys to this game will be who wins the TO battle and who pounds the others QB. The Broncos, unlike the Patriots have pass rushing playmakers. A real key to this game is going to be keeping Brady clean.

Indeed. The Steelers needed to change the way they play defense in this one and focus on setting the edges instead of constantly blitzing their OLB's and Polamalu. They didn't do that and they lost.

The message board at denverbroncos.com think they matchup well with us!!
The biggest thing coming out of this game is the Pats can't stack the box - Broncos Country Message Boards

We're gonna crush these guys even worse than the first game. There won't be any of those garbage TD drives like their first two TDs. Plus we have Spikes and Fletcher back. Can't wait.

I just don't see it. Your OL is equal to ours. The broncos don't possess the Giants or Lions DL, and everyone knows PiTTs OL is not that good. Im not really worried about their pass rushers. You stopped the rushing last time. Tebow is a pale comparison to Eli or stafford. He's not even throwing at Smith level.

and how are the Broncos #24 defense going to keep a #1-3 offense from scoring? I mean this was gone over with the 1st game. I understand the worry of being beat or humiliated, and taking them seriously, and I'm sure your boys will take care of that, but you destroyed them in their home. Now they have to play in Foxboro. Fans, noise, their going to get killed.

Im not sure how to even look at this game competently with stats and find a way for them to have a chance. I mean I wish I could be more objective, but.. I just can't see how DEN has a chance of wining this game. And I respect Fox a lot.

Ok, lets look at this rationaly. The Bronco's played a dinged up knucklehead QB and a so-so team with injuries at mile high. A tough place to play for sure. We beat them soundly in thier house. Our house is a tougher place to play I would suggest. The last time we lost a POG was a mix of overconfidence and a very good team ( who will NOT be mentioned). I just don't see them winning this game or even coming close. Brady now has McDaniels back here as well with input of the Denver game plan as well. Bob and McD plus BB = Solid planning. Couple that with our TE's etc and the rest is history. Thats as rational as I can be anyway. Thoughts?

"So weak"? In what way? They gave up the 2nd most yards, but yards without points is ****.

As far as points, we're ranked #15.

Interesting fact: Green Bay and Pats are the worst in giving up yards, but are #1 and #2 in interceptions.

For those bemoaning that we have no pass rush, we have 40 sacks for 2011.

This will be the easiest path to a Championship game in the SB era!

That is partially true. The defender can be engaged by another blocker as long as the other blocker was lined up next to him. So a guard can cut a defender that is engaged with the center. But the center cannot cut a defender engaged with an OT.

And IMO it is dirty and should be removed from the game under the new rash of "Safety" rules but.....Wilfork and his kind don't sell tickets.
