Um, so how exactly is Peyton better than Brady?

After watching Brady all of this year (regardless of what happens next week or in the SB if we make it) I don't see how there's any argument for Manning. The argument used to be "He puts up better regular season stats" but that is gone now. The only thing he is ahead of Brady in is bulk stats because he's played 3 more full seasons than him.

When I hear someone like Vinateri (who has 3 sbs thanks to Brady and a great defense) say "People say Brady, but Peyton..." I can't help but think what they are looking at. Manning is great, don't get me wrong, a top 10-15 QB of all time, but Brady is Jordan.

While I agree that Brady is better than Manning, to call Manning a top 10-15 QB of all time is a joke. The guy is easily in the top 10 and likely in the top 5. The only QBs I could argue are better than Manning are Montana, Brady, and perhaps Unitas.

Manning is definitely a top 5 QB. Brady is the best of all time, and I'm not a homer to think that... You can argue against it but Brady is the GOAT.

Why do these threads keep appearing

Manning has played with what is essentially an All Star offense...so did Aikman...Aikman has three rings. Elway is so far beyond Manning as an all around QB, passing/running, it's a total joke to even compare...HE has more Bowls. Manning's claim to eliteness is in the fact that his GM changed all the offensive rules that favored HIM, versus the rest of the QB's in the league.

In his only Super Bowl winning postseason he had a 66.8 QBR with TWO TD's and SIX picks. Conversely, Steve Young threw SIX TD's in his last Super Bowl winning appearance.

I made this post, regarding Elway, in another thread, but it largely applies to Manning, too. Just take away the first sentence and replace "Elway" with "Manning":

Bledsoe's got HOF numbers, so it's not exactly an insult, although Elway's clearly the better QB. Elway's a top 5-15 QB, likely in the 10-15 range. There's no shame in that, but putting him in the GOAT conversation is overrating him. The top 6 of all time are pretty clear, IMO:

(In no particular order)
Brady
Montana
Baugh
Graham
Unitas
Starr

It seems to me the real jockeying starts after that.

Brady has a better coaching staff and better defenses that carried him to championships in his early years before he became "elite". if they had both switched teams, don't you think the results would be pretty much be the same?

Manning had a much better surrounding cast.

If they had switched teams, Brady would still have been the better QB and gotten more SB wins.

This is an absurd post.

Just an FYI: the all-star Colts just went 2-14 without Manning.

No way Bill B. would have won just 1 SB in the past decade with Manning.

Manning has proven that he's a choker. Brady has proven that he's a winner. You're welcome to believe that BB would have been enough of a difference to overcome Brady/Dungy. I'll just note my disagreement and leave it at that.

oh..I see...so YOU are alleging the Colts would have won the Super Bowl this season IF Manning had played??

I posted historical FACTS...obviously you have a hard time discerning the difference between FACTS and goo gee gaa gaa fantasy folder idiocies...run along and go play with your Colt fan buddies at the Jacka$$ Corral or Cowpie Heaven. Manning has ONE ring since 1998...on THIS planet...what planet are YOU from???

Also based on the apparently all-important yards allowed stat, the Colts D has been better than the Patriots defense 6 times now, I believe, in the past 11 years. I don't have the stats in front of me, but if not 6 of 11 it is 5 of 11, though I think 6 is right

You still believe this? I'm convinced, you really don't want to see us in your house for the big game, do you?

If Bill wanted a real quarterback, he would chose Tom Brady over everyone else, since forever. This year proves it, once and for all. Enjoy watching it, because this is the guy all of you thought Payton Manning would be. Correct me if I'm wrong, Indy fans. From now on, it goes 1a. Montana, 1b. Brady. If you want to find Manning, start your search, somewhere around where Sanchez left off and Eli begins.
