Welker not sure if he'll report for Patriots offseason program per Albert Breer

Breer being a negative douche when it comes to the Pats? The hell you say?

In all seriousness can he even go if he doesnt sign the tender? If that's the case I'm sure he won't go while they try to work out the long term deal.

If I were Welker, I wouldn't report.

He's been a good soldier for the last four years, playing far above his contract. He's kept his mouth shut and just worked hard. He deserves a long-term deal. This is the type of guy you need to reward; this isn't a Richard Seymour situation where every two years, he's looking for more dough.

I am surprised Breer didn't include the line "Welker will miss a lot more of the offseason program than people think".

Breer has really turned into an anti-Patriots douche over the last year.

He has to be under contract to take part in OTAs.

I hate players that hold out like that instead of attending camp.

If I were a GM/owner I would be far more willing to pay someone who'd turn up to camp with a contract situation above their heads. That person is still willing to work to make the team better.

You're right; it isn't a Seymour situation. It's an entirely different Welker situation where you consider in two years, he might not be worth much to the team at all.

I'm pretty sure that Welker's about the last guy on Earth whose work ethic should be questioned.

sure .... but it doesn't change the fact that he will get 9M for this year by showing up in late august or early september

we'll see what people say when gronk start making noise after next season. much more effective with a year left on your rookie deal than waiting to be tagged

anyone who has followed breer, he is a pats/BB hater. You should read the tweets of his after payton was suspended saying BB got away with it. And he constantly belittles patriot fans who respond with 'patriots fans are funny'. How about take some constructive criticism and look at yourself and how obviously biased you are ?

doesn't matter.

the fact that he has not signed the franchise tender speaks louder than anything

welker's damned fricking happy he's going to be banging his girl instead of reporting to OTA's

I expect he'll sign his tender after the draft (to make sure no one "gets cute").

Yeah, you are so damn spot on here. I was enraged. I am not an easy person to anger into action (due to an agreeable personality and generally lazy demeanor) and I was damn close to making a real effort at going off on him.

"Hey Warx, you've been a really valuable member of Global Co., and we've brought in some other people recently, even someone who does your same job, at a higher compensation than we've given you, and you've outperformed them. That being said, we're going to make you a yearly contractor until you agree to a compensation package we like.

Also, can you come into work an extra 4 weekends in a row for some optional training?"

I don't know why people lose all sense of reality when talking about sports. The employee/employer dynamic doesn't change. Employees who outperform others want to have that performance recognized.

I can't stand that mole-faced shmuck. He's always doing anything he can make any and everything to do with the patriots bad.

I only like Lombardi.

Haha.. so true, that's his m.o. .. gresh n him are the two i would love to smash my car into..

to be honest, Im not that worried about welker. I think theyll get a longterm deal done..it will just take some time. This is what they do with all their free agents. Think Wilfork/mankins

the fact that the Patriots sent Welker to advertise their new uniforms/he went to go there shows me that they expect welker to be back for awhiel

Welker was pretty upbeat today, unlike Breer, and said while he doesn't know when he will sign his tender (tagged players almost never do before camp) he was excited to be back as a Patriot and he doesn't have a problem with being tagged at what amounts to half of what he's earned in the last 5 years.

Breer is such a douche... Probably so upset OSU got bounced out of the final 4 he had to take it out on patsfans... He just tweeted his new NFLN playmate Rapaport kudos for his first NFL.com article - an idiotic piece lauding RGIII for refusing to workout for Indy - which he characterized as him standing up for all the poor downtrodden draft hopefuls forced to submit to the indignity of all expenses paid interview junkets...

Honest to god, what possesses the Network to hire these lightweights...:bricks:

Oh, and FWIW http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...old-out-if-he-doesnt-have-new-deal-page3.html

Nobody's signed their tender yet (except maybe a kicker...). Except to facilitate a tag and trade, only an idiot would sign it before OTA's at the earliest, and that's now mid May thanks to the new CBA, and more often than not players don't sign it until the deadline passes for doing a long term deal in mid July because they want to retain leverage.

Last season there were no OTA's or team sponsored off season workouts and Welker showed up in August for $2.2M and had his best season yet... Anyone who is worried about what Welker will do is just wasting valuable time they could spend worring about something genuinely concerning.
