RIP Junior a player that I gained more and more respect for the longer he played.

Please,to those who want to speculate, please do so in silence. Sometimes there are just no answers to things like this. Speculation sometimes feed rumors, even if not intended to do so.

Very, very sorry to hear this. Guy was a great player and from all reports a really nice guy that did alot for the SD area. My condolences and prayers to his family and loved one's. One of my favorite recollections of Junior as a Pat was after he picked off a pass....and he got so excited that he started waving it in the faces of the guys coming up to try and tackle him. I'm sure you all recall the play......priceless....

Early reports BTW have this listed as a suicide....however he died of a gunshot to the chest. Sounds fishy to me and I would imagine more will come out shortly....RIP Junior

I hope for the best but expecting the worst, unfortunately. Hopefully the "unconfirmed reports" turn out to be incorrect.

EDIT: TMZ is now saying that has in fact died. RIP. :(

R I P you were definitely one of the best LBs in NFL history!

Re: Junior Seau has reportedly died

TMZ has a life press-confrence on right now.

Significant that he shot himself in the chest? It seems like several of the recent suicides by ex-football players have used that method. Obviously, using this method obviously "saves" the brain for further study.

I had never heard of this.....do you have any links to other players having committed suicide by shooting themselves in the chest (heart) so that their brains could be evaluated for damages by multiple concussions? I am not challenging anything here....just a curiousity to something that I was not aware of. I was thinking someone else shot him because it seems odd that he would shoot himself in the chest....thanks

Amen.

RIP, Junior.

RIP Junior... you had the same fire on the defensive side of the ball that TFB has on the offensive side. Sure was fun to watch even if for a short while on the downside of a HOF career. Wish we could have gotten you that ring. F&%# David Tyree.

RIP junior. תהיה נשמתך צרורה בצרור החיים.

RIP, Junior.

I remember your salad days with the Chargers in the '90s when you were one of the most feared blitzing LBs in the game. I remember one of your last great feats in a uniform: Shooting the gap in the AFCCG vs. your old team, stuffing Michael Turner inside the 10 on 3rd down to force a FG. You were indeed an all-time great.

Regards,
Chris

RIP Junior. We really enjoyed having you with us.

Very sad news. Seau was always a competitor on the field and will be remembered as a leader and good team member for the Patriots.

Wow, this is just awful. Three kids.

None of us can pretend to know what was going on in his life, or his mind. But maybe we can try to remember, even as we criticize players, that they're just fallible human beings...even the ones like Junior who seem larger than life.

God rest your soul. I really enjoyed your leadership and talent in a time when we needed it. I hope you finally found peace!

That's sad news, i remember when we got him after his graduation and he fitted right in. Thanks for the memories, RIP.

Terrible
RIP.

It's nice to see the entire football world recognizing the kind of person he was. Fans and players from every team are wishing their best. He really did reach out to a lot of people.
