I feel a little better, but it still depends on the money and how much is guaranteed.

At least it makes some sense now.

EDIT: $31M, wow okay, better pay that guaranteed $$ upfront

Well if he can stay fit this could be one heck of a deal. Fitting for Bradys 5 year deal.

Oh dear god. did Welker hit on McDaniels wife? That has to be it

Middle finger to Welker. $6.1M a year.

5 years, $31M, $10M guaranteed

Watching people meltdown around here should be fun.

Per @RapSheet, Amendola gets 5 years from Pats at $31M. $10 guaranteed. Avg: $6.1.

Remember, he's a lot younger than Welker, at the end of this he'll be about the age Welker is now.

When Wes Welker was traded to Patriots in 2007, he signed a five-year deal, same length Amendola agrees to with Patriots today.

LOVE this move. The only downgrade at this moment is there's no chemistry between Amendola and Brady. If people would actually watch his game film and not type "OMG he is tooooo injury-prone" you would see he's almost Welker V2, except younger.

What are they doing........

I expect Amendola to be used differently. He's not even close to as durable as Welker, but he's 1 3/4 inches taller, a little faster, and has better hands. He won't be a great downfield target, but he'll be more of one than Welker for all three of those reasons.

Love it......

he could be BETTER than welker, the problem is that we let a known commodity go for an unproven guy

man's got some crazy big shoes to fill

When he's healthy, he's lightening in a bottle.

A bottle made out of thin, brittle glass.

If he stays healthy it might be worth it because he is young and knows the system. However if he fails to shed the injury bug then this will be a waste of 31 million dollars.

You have got to be kidding me. $31 MILLION? Is this guy even worth that kind of money?

Might not be, but might also wind up a bargain as Welker was from 2007-2011. Only time will tell, I just hope this has an out clause if he can't stay on the field.

Gotta love Fitzy hahahahahahaha

Fitzy ‏@FitzyGFY
Pats signing Amendola for 5 yrs & letting Welkah walk for 2 would be like Belichick divorcing his wife for a hot younger version. Oh wait...

We need an exorcism to remove the Ghost of Al Davis from BB's body. I hope this works out better than Josh's other hand picked players like Fells, Lloyd, Maroney and Chad Jackson. 31M you have to be kidding me.

Well, it is what it is. Just have to wait and see how all this comes together.

And the injury bug LOVES THIS TEAM. Every year a position is decimated by injury. This dude better hit the weights.
It's football, every team gets hurt. Just seems like we've gotten untimely injuries.

Good! With all respect to Welker, and everything he has done for us, I'm glad the Pats were able to sign a deal like that with someone else. Welker is replaceable. I don't care what people say.
