In a pick play you get in the way, "rub" him, make the DB alter his line.
Pick plays don't involve diving at the knees of the DB.
This was a lot worse than "just a pick play"
The national media is ripping BB for saying this. They show a screen shot of the Edelman play and saying that it is proof that NE does it too. (Prisco did this and Breer followed up with "Good point, Pete.").
Except the fact that Edelman was blocking for a guy that had the ball.
The play speaks for itself: Dirty as F***
The "hard hitting" guys on WEEI this morning are ripping BB for saying this because he coached Lawrence Taylor and Rodney Harrison and they were dirty players. "Besides, isn't the intent of a football player to hurt the other team?" So says the guys that beat up BB for "running up the score." Such a bunch of BS guys.

The local beat writers are just amazed BB said anything and most are at least supportive of the fact that they now have something to write about.
Mike Periera (sp) said that it wasn't OPI because the ball arrived as Welker hits Talib, FWIW.
The play may or may not have been dirty but Welker didn't dive at Talib's knees. They hit shoulder to shoulder. If BB hadn't said it was dirty I would never have thought of it that way. A penalty certainly should have been called for OPI.In a pick play you get in the way, "rub" him, make the DB alter his line.

The patriots run, and have run the exact same play, and also done much worse. It wasnt a dirty play. Deal with it
I was shocked that welker wasn't flagged for a pick after that hit since Homan barely brushed a denver player and Was. I thought 'well i guess that mustn't have been a pick because they just called on about two minutes earlier on the pats'. Hooman got in somebodys way, welker took his player out.Looking at the video a few posts above i'm going to suggest a lot of people are hugely over-reacting to this whole situation.
I'm as p*ssed as anyone about the refereeing standard this year - missing that call is just pretty typical - but Welker put his body across Talib - foul play for sure but certainly not diving at his knee or whatever people are hysterically suggesting.
I'm hugely upset that back-to-back AFCCG's have been hugely influenced by injuries to Talib - on the back of a year when we suffered unprecendented levels of key injuries - this doesn't make a Wes Welker witch hunt any more correct.
Having said all that, GO SEAHAWKS!
