Draft Simulator

I move Ford to OLB, put the weight on Webster and rotate him with CJ and RN at DE. Martin takes over at center. Patchan will back-up Volmer, keeping Cannon at RG, Mason will end up being the lead back, compares favorably to Ray Rice. Street is a big target with great hands and tougher than a boiled owl, he was a leader for Pitt as well. Fiedorowicz and Gronk will likely play the same TE role and THAT will be dangerous with them both on the field at the same time. McCarron is a winner and with Mallett in his last year is a very good option for backup QB.

I figured that Mayo and Hightower will man the ILB, the secondary seems set, Jones and Velano did well on the D-line and will spell Kelly and Wilfork, with Collins taking on opp. TEs.

If this defense stays healthy, it will be top 5.

I've been consistently able to get

Truitt - 1st
Niklas - 2nd
Martin - 3rd
McCullers - 4th
Southward - 6th
Lyerla - 7th

Regardless of which big board I use. I think that would have the potential to help in a lot of positions of need (and, yes, I know that Lyerla is a head scratcher. My thinking in making him my 7th round goal is that it would keep him from hitting the market, where all it takes is the Bengals to screw things up).

I've had more mixed success with Bitonio (2nd), Trai Turner (4th), Fiedorowicz (4th) and Archer (4th). Also, Jones in round 2 instead of Niklas is one I'd be comfortable with, but I'm not sure he'd be dropping down that far.

Anyone willing to trade a 2015 1st for Christian Jones?

Sorry but God no!

Thanks for your response....

You seem more than a little adamant. Is it because you think a pick in the low 20's from next year will yield a better player than Jones, or is it that you just don't like the idea of trading the pick?

There are a couple of players I would be willing to trade our 2015 1st round pick for but Christian Jones certainly isn't one of them. My problem is he just isn't that good a football player yet. He is all athleticism and potential which is why I think he would be great to take a chance on in the 3rd/4th round, but he just isn't developed enough for me to spend a high pick on. If he can develop his instincts and refine his technique he can be a very good player, but he still has a long way to go. Late 3rd is the earliest I would go on him.

I'm just not that big a fan of Jones and just don't think spending a first round pick on someone I think is a backup/rotational player at best is worth it. Others like him more than I though. And no, I'm not a fan of trading future first round picks. I'm not even sure I'd do it for Clowney.

I find it interesting that it's both, just because I expected one or the other. More interesting to me, though, is your position on trading that pick away. I'd do it for a lot lesser prospect than a Clowney, yet even a Clowney has you reluctant. We have a very different position on that.

I think there's too much that can go wrong with drafted players. Having one pick bust on you is one thing but losing another first as well is the type of thing it gets difficult to recover from.

They have now added Ourlads rankings. I knew they were different than most others. I was not able to draft my #1 TE Troy Niklas or either of my #1 centers, Richburg or Martin.

Here is what I came up with:
29
DT NIX III, LOUIS
NOTRE DAME
62
WR MATTHEWS, JORDAN
VANDERBILT
93
C SWANSON, TRAVIS

DT COLEMAN, DEANDRE

ILB WILLIAMSON, AVERY

C IKARD, GABE
OKLAHOMA

Overall I would be happy with this draft if it fell this way. I think Jordon Matthews will give us a solid WR for years to come. Blanchflower seems to be shooting up the boards which does not surprise me.Millard would give us a Blount type RB and he his very good in pass blocking and receiving.

I like the 2nd one much better....gives us some real flexible capabilities on defense.....we emulate anything from a read and react 3-4 to a seahawk type of hybrid to a cover 2 4-3

johnson, tripp, and coleman add more athleticism to the front 7

clinton dix makes our secondary monstrous....at least on paper

amaro and hoskins provide good targets even though their blocking is not the greatest

ikard provides depth

mccarron provided a future alternative

Yeah, the draft simulator--while a ton of fun and potentially addictive, seems to be a little too kind in my opinion.

I could be wrong, and maybe we can actually get the first 5-6 players like that, but I have some apprehension just like you do.
