Welcome to Mathis Island, Suh!

He has a beard, that's how you know he can play really well. Its science.

Is he a Patriot or not dadgummit?

Who knows if the Pats were even interested. Their name could have been thrown out there to get other teams to up their offer.

I loved Silver Linings Playbook!!! Whoever didn't can go pound sand!

My SO and I argued about this forever. I'm on your side.

Loved it. I actually didn't like it at all in the first part of the movie, but by the end it had completely won me over. Lawrence makes me go  in this film.

@eaglescentral: Teams I've seen linked to Evan Mathis: Miami, St. Louis, New England, Buffalo, Minnesota, New England. Wish Eagles were linked to him.

I'd rather keep Wendell. Love Connolly, but Wendell is a backup Center and filled in very well.
Yep. So is Conolly as he was a starter there in 2011

Mathis played line at Alabama. I seem to recall a certain guard from 'Bama that played pretty well for the Pats. Sign the beast!

Buffalo and miami. Shocked with miami. You would think they wasted all their cap space with suh.

RUMOR: Pats trying for Eagles Evan Mathis

I didn't see it mentioned, but there were reports today that the Pats have been in discussions with the Eagles to acquire Evan Mathis.

He's a quality guard.

EDIT: Removed comments about Grubbs since I missed that he'd been traded to KC..

So why would the Eagles trade him? Pro bowl Guard for a mid round pick? Wtf. I just don't get it.

Mankins was an all pro G that was traded for a mid round pick. Cmon Rich, it was just last season. ;)

Seriously, its not about the amount they have to pay him this year, which I hear is $5MM, but the Cap # which is closer to $8MM, plus the fact that he's 34. It's time to move on, but more from the cap number than the player himself....much like we had to with Mankins..

Plus Chip picked up some pretty expensive contracts recently in Bradford, Murray and Matthews. Guess who would be the easiest to replace. Your $8MM cap hit in your 34 year old OG. They might not be able to replace him 100% but they could get close. We replaced an all multi-time all pro with a journeyman and won a superbowl.

I think it was a smart move by Kelly. One which he's going to get killed for by the media, but smart nonetheless. Hopefully it will benefit the Pats, because at $5MM Mathis would be a short term upgrade and help stabilize an OL that might have had to start 3 very young players on the interior of the OL. Now an OL of Solder, Mathis, Stork, Flemming, and Volmer has the right mix of youth, younger vets and older vet that can work.
