This guy got his ring. Now he can fade into oblivion in new york. He can say he wanted to be in new york but that money helps

Good for Revis, even if it's bad for the Patriots. No ill will here. If Gilbert's that much of a shark, I hope he becomes the new director of the PA.

He wanted to sign in New York but didn't even sign with the Bills and went to Jersey instead. Guy is seriously ****ed in the head.

Who got the last laugh:

Tampa Bay: $16 million (2013)
New England: $12 million (2014)
New Jersey: $17 million (2015)

Maybe Belichick isn't such a dummy after all....

Just thinking out loud, but suppose the Pats, if they knew any of this (and I expect they did), went to Woody and said, "We're going to pick up his option and trade him to you. What you got?"

This is what I think now after hearing revis comments and other comments. We never had much of a chance. He wanted to go back to the jets and the jets wanted him. Patriots would have most likely had to outbid the jets by a decent margin to even have a shot.

If he's the NFLPA President, Gilbert may have a greater impact upon player agents and the way they conduct their negotiations than he would the players. Very short shelf life for most NFL players and most don't want to miss a big payday with another hold-out. Too many younger and faster players are able to replace the hold-outs.

I was listening to Felger and the mentally deficient today and they STILL don't get it. They were still complaining that if the Pats had upped their offer just a few more million they could have kept Revis. UNBELIEVEABLE! They also summarily dismissed the idea that all things being equal, Revis was going back to the Jets. And once again, they didn't have the sense to understand that had the Pats matched or come close to the Jets front loading of the contract, it would have destroyed their salary structure for years.

Even when faced with the fact that matching the Jets offer would create a $21MM cap hit in the first year, Felger's attitude was essentially, "so what" It didn't take long before I had to turn to NPR for relief.

Seems like the only reason we got him in the first place was because the Jets didn't want him at the time. It is possible we could have done a deal to get him back if not for the Woody tampering. Once Woody made it known he wanted Revis back, that was it for him in N.E. Him wanting to go back to the Jets + the Jets huge cap space spelt the end of Revis on the Pats.

It's clear the tampering was huge in this matter. If the tampering didn't really matter, it is possible Kraft would have accepted Woody's apology and be done with it. But Kraft put in a tampering claim to the NFL so, obviously, Kraft also thinks the tampering got in the way of any possible deal.

What's done is done and we just got to move on.

Can't believe this is my first post after lurking for a while. Anyways, Sean Gilbert is a CANCER to football. I repeat CANCER. Money over winning. See, sports are ALL about winning from youth to professional. Period. Money is an ancillary benefit. It's one thing to advise a player to get as much money from a winning organization to a) get the most you can from them and b) have the best chance to be a champion or champion(s).

Gilbert will direct his players to money over winning. That would hurt most players, as well as the fans of good winning organizations. He is everything that's wrong. In this instance if he had said take 28 f/g instead of 39 f/g he'd be fine in my book. Or he drove the Pats up to 32 or so.

That's an easy stance to take when we're not the ones putting our bodies on the line.

Sean Gilbert will strengthen the Patriots position at the top of the totem because they don't subscribe to his way of thinking. Financially responsible teams will continue to dominate the league whereas Gilbert approach teams (e.g. Washington) will wallow in the depths of despair.

I don't mind players attempting to maximize their value but the Revis/Suh contracts (for non-QBs) are irresponsible when one considers total team make up and percentage of the salary cap pie. As a player, if you're lucky to sign a contract as such, then my congratulations.

Unfortunately here's the deal that most players in their greed, aren't going to get, if they elect Gilbert. They don't understand that for every dollar that someone like Revis gets, there are that many fewer dollars for everyone else. It's the first rule of capology.

So while the Jets continue to take on big contracts to eat up their $50MM in cap space, Revis just took close to $20MM of it. For the past 15 years the Pats have PROVEN that that is not the way to give yourself a chance to win on a consistent basis. Teams that are top heavy like the Jets of 2009/10 can get close doing it that way for a couple of years, but eventually they crash and burn.

If Gilbert ends up winning this election, it will mean nothing but "labor unrest" and confrontation and continual bad PR for the league and the fans get tired of Millionaires fighting with Billionares over the kind of money the average American can only dream of.
