See i would never get a REvis jersey unless locked up long term...too much just for 1 year...so i got Browner because i was like oh he will be here at least 2 years i will go with it...oops

Even then I wouldn't get one. All my jerseys are homegrown talent. Although I was and still am tempted to buy a Moss jersey. He was so superhuman that year.

I cheered Revis for the year he was here but I still never in the back of my mind forgot he was a Jet. If I ever would of got a Revis jersey I'd have to be in a room full of Jet fans. Maybe have the super bowl logo installed on the arm to really get under their skin.

My thoughts on why we didn't pick up his $2m roster bonus is because without Revis, he became expendable because he also specializes in man cover. Both of them on the field justified man press.

Looks like we're going to have more zone coverages that, in a bend-but-don't-break scheme, tends to lead to hair loss and high blood pressure.

Hard to put Browner and Saint in same sentance but Thanx Browner for your hard work, intimadating style and swagger you brought to Pats. Our Def FINALLY had right personel for right formations to win a SB. A part of me will wish you well with Saints.

Liked Browner, wish him the best. Obvious they are just doing a system overhaul without Revis.

It can work and there is plenty of time until the season. But I think the most disappointing aspect of losing Revis and Browner to me is that you really feel this defense hadn't seen it's best football yet, they probably would have really come into their own next year. Doesn't excuse the cap rationale. Oh well.

If they are going to that zone coverage then they better get some players upfront. They got sheard as a pass rusher but no interior beef yet.

I'm a big Browner fan!

I wish him nothing but the best in NO!!

I guess everyone here knows this but Browner was critical to the Butler SB interception due to his blocking Kearse, disrupting Lockette's route and clearing the path Butler. Very few corners would have made that play so well.

We are gonna be mushy next season unless we add some nastiness. The intimidation factor on D has gone.

What's the current cap situation with the Saints? Have they gotten themselves out of cap hell yet?

Back to a crappy secondary. At least TFB finally got his 4th ring because I am betting it's his last.
Well, at least your not catastrophizing about it.

Since when are Collins - Hightower - and Mayo soft?

Not them but you lose Browner and Revis and receivers are no longer intimidated. Never said those 3 wouldn't eat anyone alive who crosses them because they're great LB's but don't forget the big man on the front has gone too. I will however reserve judgment until i see what happens with Knighton and others and if they come.

Not a fan of letting Browner walk.

At this present stage, the Patriots don't have a shutdown corner on the roster. That made Browner's skill set redundant for the Patriots.

I have no idea why we let browner go. I'm hesitant to doubt bill because of his track record but we had him under contract. He was a great player. Who are we gone get that's better than him? What's done is done but I wish I could've been a fly on the wall when that decision was made.

How is he redundant?

I think ausbacker simply mispoke, he's not redundant but in theory Browner's skill set requires a player like Revis to succeed, Browner doens't match up all that well 1 on 1, but he is a fantastic bully at the LOS and if you shade some help in his direction he's prefect for a team with a true lock-down #1 corner.

Without that shut down corner it's hard to shade the help to Browners side, making him more of a liability than an asset, so he's expendable.

His skillset is also seemingly limited so if we're switching defensive schemes he loses value with us and a less physical corner with equal or greater coverage skills can easily replace his role.

I wish the best for Browner. He was here only a year but I liked his play it was aggressive but I understand that workd with a Revis in the other corner. Otherwise we can't have the penalties that Browner gets into without a Revis.

Best wishes Browner, thanks for the SB.
