The League Investigating the Jets for tampering this past week

Apparently, they are one of the teams that they are investigating for contacting impending free agents illegally. So this will make everyone looking for blood happy.

Coles said the League sent investigators to the Jets' offices to see if they contacted Revis before he became a free agent. They are continuing to investigate.

Now if they find evidence that they contacted Revis before he became a free agent. Then their first round pick is on the table for punishment.

Super. The Keystone Cops are on the case.

That's a backhanded way to describe Pats fans that want JUSTICE from this godyamed league. What about the Patriots blood spilled since 2006? what do you call that, a medicinal intervention for the good of the league?

Yes, but we are talking about Woody Johnson. I wouldn't be surprised if Woody tried to negotiate on Facebook. Even the league might be able to catch him.

I think it is a separate issue. I think if they find evidence of tampering, it could compound the punishment.

Granted I have a feeling they won't find any evidence.

I think it means this might be separate from that. Though if found guilty on both counts I assume one lump penalty.

There's still absolutely no precedent for that kind of punishment for tampering. That said, I can see the league being EXTREMELY pissed, if they told Woody, "Hey, we're going to let your comments in the press conference blow over, then give you a slap on the wrist fine to acknowledge it. Just don't do anything stupid, okay?" Then he goes out and blatantly tampers again, signing the player he was originally referencing. If I were the NFL, the Jets would walk the plank.

Is there anything to the talk about there being evidence of tampering in the photos of Revis with Jets gear on with it being daylight outside the windows?

It's still light out after 4pm and I didn't think much of it, but maybe there's something to it.

It is almost impossible to hide/erase a digital trail (just ask Hillary). If the NFL (and that's a big if) somehow gets into the Jets phone records they will be caught.

Being that the Pats cut off negotiations with Revis on Monday, I'm guessing that he already knew they Jets offer. Of course, he could have just read it in the papers.

Damn, now I feel really really bad. I'm one of those really bad people who is out for Jet BLOOD!!!! #ifeelterrible

I have to get it all out, I don't like the Jets very much and I don't even care if they are treated fairly, and I actually hope they aren't and that the League nails them to the wall and gives the Patriots all of their picks. I would laugh and revel in their misery. I'm a bad person.

Is there precedence for this level of tampering though?

1 - openly courted a player in the press, mid-season, directly referencing his contract, and saying they want him back
2 - hall of fame caliber player
3 - presumably continued to tamper, illegally, when player was still under contract with another team, and not even a free agent
4 - player signed with tampering party

The closest comp was Briggs, who was a decent player at the time, he didn't even sign with the tamperers.

I have zero confidence that the league investigators, based out of new York and who work under Goodell, will find any evidence of their beloved Jets tampering
