Patriots 2015 Off-Seaon Free Agency Rumors

Also, when did Chandler Jones and Nate Solder suddenly become "better him than Revis" players?
Really? You just don't get it.

So are the Pats going to field a team of Brady, Gronk, Revis, and a bunch of veteran minimum scrubs. No, none of the impending free agents next year are as good as Revis is individually, but when you have to say good bye to a bunch of them for one player they start to be far more costly as a group.
So far we are cutting Mayo, Sheard (before he even plays a down, he's gone next year) Amendola, Chandler Jones and Solder without any replacements so we can keep Revis. Wow, I'm convinced the cap is only pretend.

I'm sorry that your reading comprehension sucks. Perhaps, if you hadn't deliberately ignored where I wrote "pretty much have assured" in your response, you may have gotten a better grasp of my post.

Also, seriously.... using Denver, when the Broncos' biggest problem was an injured Manning?
Yes its my reading comprehension thats a problem not your grand sweeping statements in the middle of march before we have even drafted. "Pretty much assured" way to cover your ass. Im sorry i didnt realize that what you meant is if we keep all those players we were pretty much assured baring injury that we would make it back to the sb. So i guess with the pretty much and the injury part your statement means absolutely nothing. My bad. As far as peyton goes we will see next year how injured he was or whether age caused him to hit a wall. Im guessing that if peyton doesnt age in reverse and barring injury that denver is pretty much assured not to make the sb next year. Youre right saying nothing feels good.

@tomecurran: A few corner visits to report as well as Terence Newman coming thru Foxboro. Tarell Brown, Bradley Fletcher and Robert McClain.
Under NO circumstance should BB consider Bradley Fletcher. He was terrible last year For Eagles n was reviled by everyone

He was also singled up a lot on the other team's #1. It could be a case of him being a viable rotational guy who was asked to do too much.

bradley fletcher? belichicks trolling if he signs that garbage player.
we also play the cowboys this year so fletcher will be terrified!:D dez torched him.

I have to say the one major positive about the Pats not re-signing Revis is we don't have to put Deus on suicide watch. I have to say I was getting scared that he might off himself this season without a way to complain about Belichick the GM. I mean he can no longer argue getting rid of Welker and Mankins was a colossal blunder.

I wonder if Belichick let both Revis and Browner to walk just to give Deus a solid.

Hahahhahahahahaha. How he is even classified as a pats fan is beyond me. Just one bitter old fella that actually "needs to be drug tested"

No! Fletcher just plain stinks.

Fletcher is an exercise in futility.

How about we discuss Danny amendola

I think common sense would say that if he doesnt develop a drug problem and baring injury, he is pretty much assured 80 catches 900yds and 8 tds next year. Please note if you disagree with me learn to read. I said pretty much assured...which could also mean 30 catches for 400yds and 3 tds. And whatever you do dont bring peyton manning into this.

Well, when you're talking about cap space, and those are the guys being used as examples of players who might be lost, it's kind of important, IMO.

Reiss expounds a bit on I was getting at (h/t DarrylS):

As for the Patriots, perhaps more than anything, the sense from here is that their salary-cap situation -- with an eye toward the future and some potential big deals on the horizon for the likes of left tackle Nate Solder, defensive end Chandler Jones, and linebackers Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins -- has them in a mode where they are not as flexible to win a free-agent bidding competition with another team. Part of this was a result of using some of 2015's cap to build the best team in 2014 (e.g., a $5 million charge for Revis), and that strategy obviously paid off.

@MikeReiss: Patriots contract note: TE Scott Chandler has a 2-year pact worth $5.3 million, with $2 million signing bonus, per info currently available

Suggests he'll be used frequently

I like Dues and his insight for the most part.. I don't always agree with him but it's better when there are differing opinions, it keeps it interesting.

The only times I've had a problem with him and he's pissed me off is when he basically insults everyone who disagrees or has a different opinion, saying that they're clowns or that their opinion is garbage, etc..

that's the kind of crap I can't stand.. unless someone here is a former NFL Coach or GM, their opinion is just as relevant as anyone elses.. and I like having debates over things, it makes you more informed and have varying perspectives.. just don't trash on other people and make it seem like you're some genius that's floating on a cloud of wisdom above the rest of us simple minded peasants.

I'll continue to participate in discussions with him, and when he does those things and crosses those lines we'll fling **** at each other like monkeys, then go about our day.

To be fair Welker is an undersized WR whose hits were really starting to pile up and most people thought we would see a decline in the next 2 years for sure.

Mankins was over paid an no longer the all pro he was being paid like. Still pretty good when not injured (which was often) but the contract did not match.

Revis has had only 1 major injury and besides that has been very durable. He is not at all likely to decline any time soon. He will probably continue to be the best at his position for 2-3 years and one of the best for a few years after that.

One of these moves were clearly unlike the others.

You are missing one key point, both Welker and Mankins would have stayed if the Pats paid them what they were looking for. The Pats just didn't see the value in paying them. I don't know if Revis would have because I think the Jets would have paid him whatever he wanted and they had the cap flexibility to guarantee far more money than the Pats.

I am not happy that Revis is gone, but I don't know if the Pats could have kept him even if they tried a lot harder to keep him. I think the Jets were intent on signing him no matter the cost and he wanted to go back home.
