Potential trade target/reclamation project - Marcus Cooper

Cooper is from Rutgers so is there really any need to say anything more?

He started off his rookie season (2013) playing great before his play slipped in the second half of the season, highlighted by Eric Decker schooling him for 4 touchdowns. He came back last season as a starter before losing the job at mid season,.

Cooper is a big physical CB who can play press coverage, he could likely be had for a late round conditional pick.

Thoughts?

pretty much Logan Ryan good rookie season with a bit of a drop off in season two when asked to cover better WR's if he was a FA I would say yes give the kid a look but I cant see giving up Draft picks for him

McCourty had a crap second season also it must be a Rutgers thing.

Please for the love of god...ENUFF with drafting Rutger players. Draft well known players from prestigious Division 1 Football teams/conferences.

This is a good point, Rutgers plays in a conference called the Big Ten. Anyone ever even heard of that? Must be NAIA.

We should probably just draft everyone who comes out of Alabama, every single one of those guys lives up to his billing every time

Cooper would be nice to have for reasons illustrated by B6, but I think the acquisition unlikely. He is cheap and young, so they'll probably give him camp to show his wares. If he's cut he wouldn't get to us on waivers. And if he is cut worthy is it worth more than a 7th or conditional 6th?

That all said, I'd take him

Drafting well known players gets you nowhere.

Drafting and signing players that have the right mental and physical makeup for your system and program does.

The team had 4 players from Rugters that were substantial contributors to a Super Bowl Champion.

As far as I am concerned, they don't have enough of them.

PLEASEEEE

Rutgers just moved to the Big Ten, from the American Conference, before it was the (not so ) Big East. Rutgers has no power base to draw talent from like the southern schools. Even Ohio and Michigan are loaded with football talent, ditto for California. Rutgers has been a sub par program in a sub par conference(s). I would take a second teamer from Alabama over an All-American from Rutgers!

The two most famous Rutgers grads are Tony Soprano and Mr. Magoo!

I really hope you put that on your query letter when trying to be in the Pats' front office, because I (and Devin McCourty) don't want you anywhere near the Pats front office.

So you'd take Mark Barron - a first team All American Safety from Alabama, top 10 draft pick who was already traded because he was rubbish over All Big East Devin McCourty out of Rutgers?

Interesting.

Yup, I don't think McCourty is that good, average at best. The only thing great about him now, is his ridiculous salary of 9 mil a year!

I'd take Collins over him right now too! Anyone can look great playing safety behind Revis and Browner, let 's see how great he plays with Dennard and TBD playing CB.

Google NFL Hall of Famers from Rutgers and see the negative results.

Here's the top ten...

Notre Dame (12) Southern California (12) Ohio State (9) Michigan (8) Pittsburgh (8) Alabama (7) Syracuse (7) Illinois (6) Miami - Florida (6) - See more at:

Patriots tried to claim him on waivers last time he was cut. I'm sure he's still on their radar but as you said KC is unlikely to give up on him.

Now would be a good time to tap out of this discussion, it's not going to go well with the nonsense you're spewing.

By your dumb, dumb logic we should be spending more time looking at players from Syracuse and Illinois, pro football factories!

Devin McCourty is a sublime football player, I thought this argument had been put to rest. You really are no Mona Lisa Vito of the safety play evaluation world

I'm sure the Pats regret drafting that stiff Chandler Jones from Syracuse.
Hell Bucky Jones was better than McCourty!

Syracuse will add at least one more HOFer soon too, Marvin Harrison.
Jim Brown, Larry Csonka, Floyd Little, John Mackey, Art Monk..etc.
and Oh, BTW Al Davis, Doug Marrone, and Tom Coughlin

Tebucky Jones, gotcha.

Are you under the impression that Belichick, who knows a lot about football, regrets drafting McCourty?

Also great list man I cannot wait for all of those guys to be selected in the upcoming 1968 draft. I'd be eager to see all of the great players we could draft from the powerhouses at Army and Tulane. Tulane plays in the SEC like Alabama! Knock it off this isn't even good trolling.

Lmao

Yep, if only the Patriots had someone who could evaluate talent as well as you they wouldn't be in such terrible shape.

Unbelievable.

Yup, Hall of Fame clownshow post from top to bottom

If he didn't work out on the field, Gillette could certainly use some new, quality barrels.
