I think too many people are worrying about things they can't control. If found guilty, the responses here will be insane, people will worry about what OTHER people think and feel, the way I think about it is, who cares what people think ? So what if they call us cheaters. Do we lose the championship ? No, our team is the defending Super Bowl Champion until another team takes it away from the Pats. I'm just gonna enjoy the ride. If found not guilty, other people are still gonna call the Pats cheaters anyway, so who friggen cares. It's become so stupid, and should have been resolved weeks ago.

Bottom line, I feel the team did nothing wrong, and like Kraft has said, there is no smoking gun. If there was, this would have been resolved already. IF the league still fines the Pats after finding no wrongdoing, that just shows how poorly the league is run. I think all fans of all teams realize the league is run by amateurs.

Can't believe this BS the NEP goes through. Are all the other 31 owners anti-Kraft? Are they pissed at him for pushing for the resolution of the possible strike?

That resolution was SO years ago.
These clowns can't stand that a guy who entered the club with a fraction (maybe around a couple hundred million at most) of their billion plus net worth is now one of THE most successful owners both in net worth and in championships. What they say when Bobby is in front of them is different than how they behave when they can hide behind competition committees and league front office capricious rulings.

I really don't care if other fans call the Patriots cheaters....I just want to punch them squarely in the nose until blood pours out, but that's normal. :D

I feel like you do..so many though do care what everyone else thinks about the Pats. Insecure?..Who knows...but look at all the Jets and Rex threads as well..who cares!

I don't look for validation from other team's fans. That will never come.

The Patriots will always be resented by tons of fans for how they changed the sport forever as they knew it. Many fans loved cheering big name teams, big name stars, big name players and especially big time quarterbacks and cheering the idea that they were here to rule the league and if your team didn't have any of that you were a "Patsie" *cough* that needed to roll over and get out of the way.

The Patriots changed all of that for good. These fans can't wrap their heads around the fact these Patriots have won 4 championships this century and were very competitive most other years. They aren't supposed to be doing all of this. Teams with little "star" power are supposed to get pounded by the teams with stars. Quarterbacks drafted in the 6th round are supposed to suck not be first ballot HOF locks. Many fans can't accept that. This team showed up the know it alls and exposed their lack of knowledge about the sport.

So they are resented and that will never change. There will always be an excuse for why the Patriots are doing what they are doing and to these fans it can't possibly because they are a smarter and better organization that can win in today's league. So it must be cheating or whatever other excuse they can think of. It is what it is.

I just say "Scoreboard". Scoreboard always wins any argument. Winners have scoreboard. Losers have excuses.

It seems to me that many have forgotten that the refs are responsible for the inflation/deflation of the football to set the correct air pressure. Why many are assuming that this is the Patriots responsibility puzzles me. Both the rulebook and the procedures the Patriots followed make it clear where the responsibility lies. So if the footballs were underinflated (not deflated which assumes air was let out), then it is the responsibility of the referees - unless there is evidence that the Patriots deflated footballs (which seems to be pretty clear (at least from the rumors that have been reported for 2 months) that no such evidence exists - only (mostly wild) speculation.

Unlike many here, I don't expect the NFL to let themselves open for more abuse by taking action against a franchise that (apparently) did nothing wrong. Also, unlike many here, I'm not interested in judging the NFL's reaction to the report and their subsquent actions until the report is made and the NFL actually does something about it. :)

It generates ratings for the league and is advantageous to the other 31 owners.

Heck it's even advantageous to Kraft, as they say bad publicity is good publicity. It just really sucks for the die hard fans who have to deal with this stuff.. and it was ******** that the 2 weeks leading up to the SB was basically ruined for Pats fans because of this non sense.. but the ratings and money are driving it.
Well, what's this world coming to when competitive integrity and good sportsmanship are "bad for business"? Patriots have a large, vocal fanbase and Kraft is supposed to be a big muckety-muck in the league. We shouldn't have to have to put up with this sh*t from some piss ant tyrant commissioner from psychopath central (AKA New York City).

No way they accept that, despite no evidence of wrong doing by anyone. If they are fined, they need to appeal it immediately and continuously - then demand that the referees test every ball with gauges in front of the cameras before every game or the Patriots don't play.

It's enough of this BS. The league has slightly less credibility than Putin investigating the murder of yet another opponent.

Perception matters folks. Yes we can embrace the hate to a point but lets face it, this is supposed to be something to enjoy. Something we do to have fun. If everyone keeps giving us s**t about our favorite team constantly and we have to keep seeing our team besmirched nationally again and again it takes a lot of enjoyment out of everything. When it comes down to it this is just a game, the reason why we put so much of our lives into it makes it a big deal. The perception that this 'silly' little game is so important is what makes it important.

That's why I simply can't stand being the 'heel' of the NFL. And we better not come out of this looking like one.

It also is exacerbated by the fact that no team is made to look worse when comparing their failure and ineptitude to the Pats dominance and brilliance, than the NY Rats.

Consider the longtime rivalry between NY and Boston teams along with the NY fans' arrogance and feelings of entitlement, and realizing that the Rats cannot stop the Pats on the playing field, they have leveraged their influence in the MSM and their over representation in the NFL offices, then you get what we currently have from a scummy organization unwilling to give respect where it is due; an all out effort to demean the Pats' accomplishment through innuendo and character assassination.

Goodell is currently in charge. He actually works for the owners, not the other way around.

I'm not sure that I see the same connection that you seem to.

For example, there are many owners who would love to see the Patriots punished, especially judging by the way that every single thing they did was either changed via the rules, or still being scrutinized. Kraft and N.England are certainly in the minority here.

Although he's a very powerful owner, his reach hasn't exactly helped us in the past with too much, has it? I could've sworn that we'd been punished before for total ********, along with having our ideas turned down, excuses made up, and rules constantly changed to benefit other teams.

Wouldn't be patsfans.com without fanboy talk.

I think we're all "fan boys" to some degree, or we wouldn't be here--some obviously see a rosier picture than others, which is certainly understandable.

I just wanted to clarify that it certainly isn't something meant to come off as an insult to anyone. I simply meant that I believe the idea that Kraft and co. would somehow gang up and rebel against the NFL is pushing it in my opinion. In other words, it may be somewhat fantastical fan boy talk, that's all.

I haven't seen many examples of Kraft's awesome influence like some suggest, seeing as how we're constantly getting screwed, but that's just me.

I exchanged a couple of tweets with Reiss. His reason for figuring they'll get a fine is basically the equipment violation theory:
Reiss said:
Because balls were underinflated, and league rules prohibit that, educated guess was that there would be some discipline.

Although I'd LOVE to be wrong, it's the exact reason why I've personally expected a fine the entire time as well.

I realize that it's total crap and that there has to be some other underinflated balls in snowy climate cities, but those other teams aren't in question here. We're the idiots on the hot seat, as usual.

Since teams aren't allowed to pump air into them throughout the game to maintain the regulation PSI that literally means "league rules prohibit the following of the universal laws of thermodynamics."

That would be what we are punished for. Obeying the laws of physics. Amazing

I agree with everything you said. I was just poking a little fun at the obvious fan boy talk on this site. Sometimes it even makes me chuckle. Its to be expected tho. You will see it on any site dedicated to a fanbase.

actually it doesn't matter. The people who get all bent out of shape over how others view the Pats should simply not listen to those fools. Turn off ESPN..I didn't listen to any of that crap, peo[ple who do are just a glutton for punishment.

Okay Okay, let's get this crap done with. At this point, if I'm Kraft, that last thing I want to do is drag this out. I'll take a freakin fine for failure to properly maintain equipment...if it comes to that, how much would we be penalized for? And would it affect our draft spots?
