Your Kraft bashing has really reached the point of absurdity. You give him practically no credit whatsoever for his role in turning the Patriots into the best franchise in football and one of the very best in professional sports as a whole, and you take the few mistakes he has made and act as if those are really what defines his legacy. Kraft was the person who deserves the most credit for keeping this team in New England when the Budweiser billionaire had them ticketed for St. Louis, he then paid a high price, which many Patriot fans were furious about, to both sign Bill Belichick and give him complete control of the football operations and did what many owners can't bring themselves to do and stayed completely out of his way and gave him complete support throughout his time here. Should he have fought back harder on Spygate? Absolutely, but other than that he has been as good an owner as any fan could hope for and his major decisions not only brought the Patriots 4 Lombardi's but also ended a lockout that was threatening the sport as a whole. Feel free to show us an owner who has brought their team more success in the free agency era, I can't wait to see the list. Where all the hate for Kraft comes from is beyond me but it is really ridiculous IMO.
Not only do I agree with the sense of your post, I also appreciate that you did not insert that grammatical squash bug "of a" between "good" and "an owner." As picayune as that complaint may seem, that habit just sets my teeth on edge.

Can't help but think the exact same thing...but then again, I'm a paranoid from what I hear.
F### all of them. As long as you're not hearing voices, you're OK. Wait, oops...☺

If you actually read what I said you would know that I agree with your opinion of Kraft for everything positive that happened up until his capitulation to Goodell at the time of the camera placement incident. After that aside from leaving BB alone despite calling him a schmuck, i do not see anything positive he has done to rehabilitate the reputation of the Pats which he in conjuction with his buddy Goodell helped destroy. Heap all the praise you want on Kraft for being a great businessman and I won't disagree. He has continuously his business partners and the shield ( Goodell) above the interests of his team. This is further proved by his instaneous support of Goodell in the Rice fiasco and his reluctance to support BB and Brady in this witch hunt until BB had provided his scientific explanation. Let me remind you that there was a column by Curran who is well connected in which he speculated that BB would be fired if he could not prove his innocence quite a difference from his support of Goodell. It is obvious by his last statement supporting Goodell that what difference of opinion exhibited about this case has been resolved . Remember that between the Parcells era and the BB era, Kraft selected the team of Bobby Grier and Pete Carroll to run the team and they took a superbowl team to a disaster of a team in three years. So his football expertise is not infallible. Moreover, the only reason BB became available to be hired was that the owner of the Jets , Leon Hess died and he did not want to work the idiot Woody Johnson who bought the team. How many Lombardi's do you think the Pats would have won without BB especially if he was the head coach of the Jets given Kraft's hiring sucess with Bobby Grier. Finally if my opinion of Kraft conflicts with your total adoration, feel free to put me on ignore I certainly won't mind. I just think that an owner of a team should place his team and the employees who made it great ahead of making money for his competitors who despise his team and a commissioner who is corrupt and biased.

Not that I agree with Bob Kraft's early football decisions but he has hired two different coaches who made it to the SB. In fact you could argue two different coaches who won SBs for us.

Obviously there is a difference opinion who attribute the success of the Pats primarily to Kraft and those such as myself who attribute the success of the Pats to primarily to BB. This difference will not be resolved and I will not belabor the point anymore. Resolution of this incident really doesn't matter since neither outcome will affect the Pats reputation. Our only alternative is embrace the hate and try to remember when the Patriot's way was considered a positive attribute.
What is really sad about the disagreement is that we all want the best for the team and its reputation.

That is a good one.LOL Carroll wasn't a bad coach. He just had terrible groceries to work with.

You and Woody Johnson deserve each other.

I have been a harsh critic of Bob Kraft here for how he totally mis-handled the improper camera placement aftermath, however I can't see piling on the guy for his handling of the awaited Wells report outcome since his last public act was to vociferously defend TFB and BB without any equivocation.

If Herr Kommisar Goodell punishes the Pats, in sharp contrast to the past I expect the owner to go on a vigorous public offensive. If he fails to do that in a prompt fashion, I'll pile on.

I stole it.
Carroll did have bad groceries but he and the owner let the team get away from them with players running to Bob Kraft. He had some seasoning to do as a HC and Kraft as an owner. I'm glad Carroll won a SB.

First of all I never said a word about his business acumen and don't care one bit about that or the "NFL Shield." What I do care about is the Patriots staying in New England, and I am very grateful to Kraft for that, and the Patriots success, and he was the one who made that possible as well, as he could have played Jerry Jones and meddled In football decisions and ruined the team but chose instead to hire a guy who demanded absolute control as a condition of his hiring, and any Patriot fan who doesn't appreciate that is a moron.

As far as calling Belichick " a shmuck" he was right. Belichick putting the camera in the wrong place at Giants Stadium was an act of hubris. He thought he could say f.ck you to the league and the Jets and the Jets made sure they paid for it. Were the sanctions ridiculous, absolutely, but the league had the tapes and were able to use them to beat the Patriots over the head. The tapes gave the Patriots no real advantage, which Belichick acknowledged, so ignoring the memo and putting the Patriots in that situation was stupid. Kraft was right.

As for what is going on right now Kraft has made clear that he won't accept sanctions if there is no proof of wrongdoing and I'm taking him at his word, you have already convicted him of rolling over for the league office which is no different than what the haters did to the Patriots when the story broke.

As for your point about hiring a coach that demanded full control, he basically ran Parcells out because he wouldn't give him control over personnel then hired the incompetent Bobby Grier as GM which was a fiasco. He lucked into BB because of the death of Leon Hess and the sale of the Jets to Woody Johnson. Contrary to your opinion, regarding the camera placement BB was within the letter of the rule and only in violation of Goodell's interpretation.A supportive owner would have realized that and stood up for his coach rather than taking it up the rectum. In addition, BB has stated that other teams were doing the same thing and would have proved it until he was gagged by Goodell with Kraft's backing. As for not accepting sanctions, based on his last statement, it is apparent that he has had a reconciliation with Goodell who is in Kraft's words doing a good job. Reiss in his column shares my opinion that punishment is going to happen and he is more knowledgeable than we are. I actually hope Kraft has the courage to defend his employees and team for a change and he has some positive influence on Goodell. However if you combine Kraft's support for Goodell and the widely held opinion that punishment will be meted by Goodell, it seems logical to me that Kraft will accept the punishment even if not justified.
I really want you to be right and me to be wrong in this matter, but I can say only what I logically think will happen in Goodell's NFL

Brothers, we are giving the league what they want! We are turning against one another! We must stand strong in the face of the hate, hold our fourth Lombardi high in one hand, and our middle finger high in the other!

What makes this all perfect is the fact that the Pats 4th Lombardi looks exactly like a hand giving the middle finger.

Flasox, Your view of Kraft is about as warped as any I have come across, there is zero indication from Kraft that he will accept sanctions for no wrongdoing, basically you are citing your opinion of what you think will happen as though it were fact from what already happened and condemning him for it proactively. And what you guys are completely missing is that unlike Spygate there will be a complete report on it available when it's finished, just as there was in the Jonathan Martin Investigation and Bountygate, so the idea that the league office is going to redact it for a "whitewash" doesn't apply. Whatever Wells finds everyone will know.

Kraft was right to not give Parcels full control because he had no understanding of cap economics, he ran the team one season at a time, and had a serious itch to build and go elsewhere, so he really wasn't concerned about the long term health of the team because he wasn't going to be there anyways. Parcels was a great coach but giving him full control is a bad idea.

Kraft didn't luck into Belichick he made a play for him that moved Parcels to suddenly step down and declare himself GM, which Belichick rejected because he was not going have Parcels making the decisions that would seal his future. Kraft then gave up big picks to get the deal done. That wasn't "lucky" that was really smart, he ended up with the GOAT coach and GOAT QB. So you can think he's as lame as you want to but you still won't be able to find an owner in the free agency era who has done a better job, and when asked to you didn't even try.

As for" widely held view that the patriots will be punished, it is really held most likely among those shop believe they did something wrong, and imo they really don't, and that's what Kraft meant by " no smoking gun, " they followed league protocols to the letter and have no requirement to maintain game balls they are not allowed to maintain. The truth will come out in the Wells report and the league office won't be able to surpress it.

Kraft lucked into hiring a coach he had to wait for, then spend draft picks on?

What do you think he is, a leprechaun?

Keep on believing what you want and I will do the same. we will then see who is right. Correct. everything I say is my opinion based on the facts that have come out. Based on past events I lack the confidence in Goodell to do the right thing or Kraft to fight for the team. you differ and lets leave it at thst.

The fact is that BB would not have resigned from the Jets if Leon Hess dyd not die and the team was sold. That he resigned and was available was luck.
