JD Drew review two months into the season

If you need any evidence that TeeToe reads this board, look no further. At 2:07 Saturday afternoon I laid out a change in batting order (see above) that would benefit the Sox - including the likelihood of JD Who sitting out the game (of course, that's like saying Lindsay Lohan will be seen in rehab). Bingo - there it was 2hrs later. Can somebody get me a gold star?:D

you still put a guy with a .289 OBP leading off.

as for your drew nonsense, i guess last year proved that beckett sucks too, eh? and '05 proved that renteria sucks, just like '92 proved that boggs was done.

According to Francona he should be available tonight vs Oakland.
He's been out with something called "hamstring tendinitis". Hopefully he looks better tonight than he did Friday night at Fenway.

Ok, for the JD Drew sucks and was an awful signing crowd:

131

267 (36 ABs)
92
122
162
110
133
158
148
125
82 (2007, so far)

The first number is his career OPS+. The others are his individual season OPS+s. This doesn't even consider his defense, which is great.

Fell free to say he's sucking so far this year, but acting like his current state of crapiness was predictable or is likely to continue is silly. The guy has been very good his entire career and judging him based of on 1/3 of a season is downright stupid.

I've never liked the signing from a $$ standpoint. I think it's outrageous to pay him $15 mill a year.

If you ignore the fact we are overpaying him, he should be a great #5 hitter for the Sox when he gets going. Still, my preference would've been to go with a Trot-Pena platoon and use the money elsewhere. You don't gain enough to justify overspending...but, hopefully I'm wrong.

Everything evens out...Drew and Lugo will start hitting, and maybe Youk and Lowell will slow down...the good news is, I think the pace the team is on can be kept based on the fact that they do have two solid guys (Drew and Lugo) who haven't gotten into a grove yet, and should, at some point in the near future.

oh yeah, I won't really defend him making 14M a year for 5 years. IF this year was just the beginning and free agents get even more expensive the 14M/year might not seem so bad two years from now. It definitedly looks silly compared to contracts signed before this past offseason (Ortiz immediately springs to mind). And he isn't coming close to earning it.

Trot Nixon has devolved into a bad player. I love the guy and I'll always think of his monstrous 2003 season when I look back at him, but he needed to be replaced. the guy replacing him has happened to be worse so far, but he still needed to be go.

JD has gone 3 for 5 tonight, with 7 RBI's, coming off two 3 run home runs and a double

Maybe he is coming out of his slump, they predicted he would and lets see what happens now.

Exactly. So far he's shown flashes of brilliance and they all go through peaks and valleys. It's a long season (hopefully a real long season):) so we'll see how he ends up overall.

these last few games he has started to turn it on.
