The players continue to drop for the Niners. They are down right awful.

Good fortune for the Pats.

If we end up with a top ten pick at the end of the season, teams around the league will lose their minds...and all I have to say is HA HA :D

Top 10 pick? At the rate the 49ers are going now, that 1st rounder could be in the Top 5!

I believe we have a top 10 pick in the bag. How much further up we don't know.
If the Fish,Rats,Rams,Raiders and Falcons were not a joke it would be a top 5.

Seriously. It is going to be a top 5 pick. Polian is going to have to come up with some sort of draft rule. Seriously, the league is going to freak out...

Only if the Pats win the superbowl.

Can you imagine the best possible scenario? An undefeated season, a SB win, and a top five pick?!?

After all the spygate crapola, the rest of the league would explode. I would laugh and laugh and laugh....

Top 5 pick is guaranteed. Possibly high as #3. The ironic thing is that the number 3-5 pick is probably the best place to be sitting in terms of value in the draft.

You can get an impact player without paying #1 price, and still might get the best player on the board as the teams above might have to go for a QB, etc.

This also is an attractive pick for a trade down possibility for a lower 1st rounder, a second rounder and a next year first rounder, all while lowering the price tag for the players that are brought on board.

I would also consider a player and a trade down, as any first round pick will have issues getting playing time on the Patriots next year. I would love to pick up a proven 27-29 year old top flight inside LB as part of a trade down or a move for Chad Johnson to replace either Moss or Stallworth next year.

The 49ers are going nowhere fast. This is good news for the Patriots. Maybe we can get a shot at McFadden. :)

I believe the Colts gave up their first rounder for 2008 as well. :) If it is so

I like the fact that we own SF's 1st round pick this year, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that a player being injured is a good fortune for anyone. I want SF to continue to lose as much as you, but never at the expense of an injury.

Yes. They gave it to S.F so they could draft T.Ugoh. If he turns out to be a good tackle. Not a bad trade. They'll probably pick 29th or 30th. Not like they traded a top 5 pick or anything.

I know it is VERY early to begin even thinking this way but on one show Sunday there was speculation that Dallas really wants McFadden (who doesn't?). They could be looking to trade up into the top five with their two number one's to get into position to grab him depending on who is picking where. Wouldn't that be interesting. Pats still end up with two #1 picks, both mid-late 1st round after trading with Dallas...Eff you NFL.

I'm pretty sure that none of us meant it liked that.An injury is something that I'd never wish on any player in the dangerous NFL.On the other hand I'm so happy that the 49ers are losing.I hope they lose every 1 of their remaining games.

I was reading all the volume of a can't miss top five pick..and I thought that can't be...until i looked into San Fran's schedule
At Seatle-Loss
Home Rams- Man one of the few ofers left-Win
At Arizona-Loss But with the Cardinals, anything can happen
At Carolina-jeez whose the Panthers qb? Seeing it's on the road-Loss
Home Bucs.Tampa will be playing for a playoff berth-Loss
At Cleveland-Ditto (kudos to Romeo!)-Loss

Dallas is looking at having a pick in the 28-31 range. Cleveland is looking at around 20. Those two picks don't get into the top five for me. The generic draft value chart puts 20 and 30 at pick #7. If Dallas wants that pick, if McFadden is there (we need The Jest to start winning) they can add Marion Barber or no deal.
