I live a couple hours from Big D and down here every time they air one of his press conferences the local afternoon radio jock cues up the Benny Hill music...

Cracks me up!

LMAO. That's the best since a radio statio cued up the Munsters theme every time John Kerry (Herman Munster) was saying something during the last election....

I think it's cool that one of you spares started a thread about Wade Phillips....

Gimme an Q

It aint due to Wade "Bum" Phillips, that's for sure. His career record is 59-40 as of today. Take away this year, and you have 48-39. He is 0-3 in the playoffs. He was very lucky to get the team Bill Parcels built for him. He gets little, if any credit for the Cowboys success this year.

What kind of nonsense is this? Take away this year and Wade's won/loss percentage is worse and that proves he's not any good?

The Cowboys were 9-7 last year with Parcells. That doesn't touch what they have done this season at 11-1. The only team they have lost to is 11-0. You think Cowboy fans wish Parcells was back?

BB started his career out at 41 wins and 55 losses. Lesson: You gotta know your history before you start listing a coach's won/loss record and start claiming he's not very good.

Anyone who knows anything about Wade Phillips knows he is a savvy and astute football coach. He took a 6-10 team to 10-6 and 11-5 seasons. He has now taken a 9-7 team to 11-1. The worst full season Wade has had as a head coach is 7-9. BB has had FIVE seasons of 5-11, 6-10 and 7-9.

Wade gets some well-earned credit here folks, whether you like it or not.

Parcells is far superior to Phillips... I disagree highly.

Parcells career is superior for sure, but Parcells seems to have lost his touch. Here's his record as a Cowboys coach:

10-6
6-10
9-7
9-7

Nothing special. Cowboy's fans are very happy Wade is coaching the team right now.

Cartman without question !

Who can possibly take that guy seriously. Only in Texas I guess.

I was living in Colorado when he got the Broncos job and I remember he gave like a big "YEA !" with his cheesy and chubby trademark fist pump that he does at the press conference when he was introduced as the head, and all I could do was just laugh.

Who does WP most resemble?

1: The Pillsbury Doughboy

2: The Michelin Tire Thing

3: Curly Joe from The 3 Stooges

4: Uncle Fester

Put a lightbulb in his mouth and the answer will be obvious.

I actually do know my history very well. Belichick is younger than Phillips. Belichick also followed more bad coaches than Phillips. The situation a coach comes into is key to their initial success. Phillips has inherited the team Bill Parcels built and Wade can take NO (as in ZERO) credit for the team he has playing for him. Belichick, on the other hand, followed Pete Caroll and the personnel he inherited was horrible. So Belichick had to start from scratch while Phillips did not. When Belichick took over the Cleveland Browns, he came into a similar situation as the Patriots and inherited a lousy team once again.

Below are their respective records;

Wade Phillips age: 60

If Phillips was a good coach, he would not have bounced around like a ping-pong ball has a head coach. He is a good defensive coach, but NOT a good head coach.

Can you tell me how Wade's head coaching record proves he's been successful?...c'mon, pah-leeze Sanvara:rolleyes:

The team that was so talented that the great Parcells was able to get 9 wins and 7 losses out of it while Wade is 11-1. Wade also inherited the 6-10 Bills and took them to an 11-5 record. But yeah that had nothing to do with Wade either.;)

To me, he looks just like the coach of the second best team in the NFL at this moment.

Are you a Cowboys fan or just an anti-Patriot fan? No one here with any knowledge of football history is gonna back you on this Sanvara. Even Colts & Steelers fans will disagree with you on this.

Once again, here's Wade's coaching record:

Here's Buffalo's record under Marv Levy before Phillips got there;

1997| 6 |10 |0.375
1996| 10 |6 |0.625
1995| 10 |6 |0.625
1994| 7 |9 |0.438
1993| 12 |4 |0.750
1992| 11 |5 |0.688
1991| 13 |3 |0.813
Total| 69 |43 |0.616

So the Bills had one below average year before Wade got there. It was not like they were a team in turmoil. If we ask, "Was Buffalo happy with the job Phillips did coaching the Bills?"

The answer is...ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Sanvara, just explain to me why he keeps getting fired and you STILL consider him a good coach. For God's sake, he inherited a team from one of the best NFL coaches ever and lasted 3 whole years...which, BTW, is his longest head coaching stint ever.

You can THINK he's a good head coach, but in football circles, he's considered a pretty poor head coach. So you'd be wrong.

He's a cheerleader-type coach. If you look at ALL the greatest coaches, none of them were cheerleaders...none of them ran around saying "Yeah!" like Phillips does.

Here's a hint; Good coaches don't have 3 years as their longest HC job

And second place will get you...nuthin!:D

He's a good 'ol boy coach. if TO goes "TO", he doesen't have the skills to manage that.

 I guess someone should tell Larry Brown he is a bad basketball coach since the criteria of being fired repeatedly after short stints with teams is the measuring stick.

So the Bills had one below average year before Wade got there. It was not like they were a team in turmoil.

Actually, you're wrong. The Bills were undergoing a major transition when Wade took over. Their long-standing iconic head coach was gone, Jim Kelly was gone and Thurman Thomas was a shell of his former self rushing for 381 yards and 152 yards Wade's first two years there. The Bills success had revolved around Levy, Kelly and Thomas. So you might want to try a different angle on this one. :D
