Is this guy for real? - Has he seen the 2003-2004 version of the Patriots? - NOW MANY OF THOSE WERE BORING GAMES!

How can the highest scoring team right now and maybe the highest scoring team in NFL history be boring? - He's crazy!

I've actually seen people on here say this year is boring.

Tisk, tisk.

For his sake I hope he's attempting humour.

"They don’t execute big plays", is perhaps the oddest description of this team I've heard yet.

If this guy means what he is writing then he needs to see a shrink.

Consider the source. This guy, a journalist, lives on the west coast and has no focus on any specific topic. He does movie reviews, television reviews, and sports articles. Here's a quote from Michael Ventre:

"I've written sports columns too numerous to mention over the past several years. Most have appeared in the Daily News of Los Angeles, and many of them have been published in papers across the U.S. via the New York Times wire service. Now I'm freelancing."

That about says it all. He is not an avid fan of football, and apparently watches it enough to write some articles to which he adds a bohemian slant ensuring they appeal to other sometimes fans. For this he gets paid, and it's how he makes his living along with writing about the 10 worst movies of all time or the TV ratings sweeps. Heady stuff.

So, an editor calls him and says, "Michael, hey babe, what's shakin'? Yeah, we need a glitzy sports article for filler, know anything that's hot? Yeah, that New England team is undefeated, but man, that's pretty boring for our readers, can you spin it so it might hold some interest? Cool, man, yeah undefeated is really uncool. Yeah, that's it! Use that as the hook. Good stuff, the usual rate, right? Cool, babe, have it in my mailbox in 24 hours. Ciao!"

That's all I really care to know about the guy, but hey, given all the garbage that gets written about the NFL by "serious sports writers," who's to say that he's that much worse than some of our favorite "sports experts?"

How can the possibility of 19-0, a SB appearance (hopefully win), and tons and tons of records BORING!? I just don't get. I can't wait for Sunday/Monday to see what the Pats are going to do. People are stupid.

The Miami Dolphins are the most exciting team in the league

The Patriots are boring unless you are either a Patriots fan, someone who hates them or are someone who loves the NFL in general. That sounds like a wide net I'm casting there, but a large number of people are just casual fans who want to tune in to a game with some drama. There have only been two games that fit that bill.

Now if you love the team or if you are rooting for them to lose or see key players injured or if you like seeing domination that is on a pace to be unrivaled in the history of the game then yeah, they are fun games in their own right.

Been obvious for awhile the media is running out of things to say.
The NFL is on its' knees praying for a Patriots (18 - 0) vs. Cowboys (17 - 1) Super Bowl.
That would be a blast and probably the most fun run up to a game and most fun Super Bowl game we've seen in a long time.
Final score would be 45 - 41 Patriots.
TV networks are not moving the Pats into prime time as often as they're allowed to because they're boring. :rocker:

I think the article is just bad in general. The opinions aren't based on any facts, and he makes this generic blanket statements like "Life is fundamentally boring".

"Watching Super Bowl will be like watching a driveway being paved"

This guy gets paid to hack sentences up like this?

Watching the best offense in the history of the league put up 40 points a game sure is boring. It's not what happens during the games, its what is said about the game after it is played that makes the NFL the most popular sport that it is and keeps those ratings high.

I honestly don't even watch the games anyways. I only watch the post game press conferences because they are always so fascinating. I find the interaction between the press (non athletic dweebs who were pummeled in highschool) and the athletes (who pummeled them) the most intriguing thing on TV and an interesting experiment in physcology.

In fact I am so jacked and pumped this week to catch the Superbowl of press conferences as we get to hear both Ray Lewis and Brian Billick wax poetic after this weeks game. Riveting stuff indeed. No doubt this will be the best post game press conference of the year. I have the Ravens number 1 in my Press Conference Power Ratings.

How would you rate a game where the Colts beat the Cardinals by 40 points?

This article is a joke - this is football, a man's sport. This isn't some song and dance musical where everyone is smiling and If you need to be stimulated by big smiles and some guy in a top hat doing cartwheels, stop watching. He's obviously out of the norm given the ratings for Pats games and the fact the networks are doing their best to get them on prime time.

If you can't appreciate the sport for it's execution and athletic excellence, you aren't a football fan. Go catch a broadway show you f'en fudgepacker.

Well then, i guess i will be yawning with the rest of you for the rest of the season. Superbowl anyone?

i think the guys is trying to be funny...not sure though...

also, i dont agree witht he Pats being boring, no way no how...

some of hte games have gotten boring late, but thats only cuz we stopped scoring later in the blowouts...

There is definitely a touch of sarcasm in this one.

I think something went right over someone's head.
