N'Keal Harry (lack of) Progress Report

I completely agree with this. At this stage there's no point clogging up his brain with option plays or forcing him to run precise routes. Toss up the ball on go/corner/post/deep comeback routes and tell him that if he wants a future in the NFL, he has to beat the corner and go get it. It's...

Belichick admits Stidham injury might have caused demotion

I think Bedard's saying that the belief is that it wasn't a serious injury, and that a more driven player (such as Brady) would have forced himself back onto the field, no matter what, and that Stidham didn't.

So if that's what's on tape now, what does the Offense add next week for Seattle?

Actually, I would say to take a step back and look at the bigger picture - essentially, strategy over tactics. Point 1 - Seattle has an aggressive defense - therefore you run some plays to see if the defenders will take themselves out of the play - i.e. screen passes and counter runs (which...

Biggest Surprise Player(s) for the Patriots in 2020 - Who Will It Be?

My hope/suspicion is Kyle Duggar... no-one has grabbed Chung's SS spot in camp, and he's shown out well... might be good for some big plays this season.

In the UK we're getting the Pats game on Sky, followed by Saints/Bucs. Can't wait!

    Cap Space

    Hurrah!

    Cap Space

For me, I'd extend Thuney now and grab the cap space. We're going to need it, and there's only so many Burkhead-type deals we can do. He's not the type of player who is going to fall off a cliff once he's been paid. Shaq Mason has to know that he's on the hot seat this season after his...

    DRAFT Dalton Keene

That's fine by me, you can teach how to block well. You can't teach effort and toughness.

    Let's talk about the H-Back

I think the problem with an H-Back is the old 'jack of all trades but master of none' situation. Not as good as a proper full-back, nor as good as a true F-type/move tight end. I thought He Who Must Not Be Named was great lining up in the backfield, but it's a very rare set of skills.

    My Favorite Year

For me it was 2016 because of everything it meant. It meant that the argument was finally over as to who was the greatest QB of all time - Brady had 5 rings, and he'd just brought the Pats back from 28-3 down on the greatest stage of them all. It meant that Bill was firmly carved onto the...

Whew Jameis Winston signs 1 year deal with Saints

Great news, because it means that we can't sign him. Winston doesn't have the discipline it takes to be a NFL quarterback. He can throw the ball, but has no idea who it's going to. Every time he chucks it deep you may as well flip a coin.

    DRAFT Caash Maluia

Seems like one of those that has to contribute on special teams to ever have a chance to make it. Speed/size are obvious pluses. Can anyone comment as to what he's like as a tackler?

DRAFT Pick 159, Patriots Select K Justin Rohrwasser

Strong leg and he hit them when it mattered. Works for me. MCGILL: Rohrwasser stays ready for this month's NFL Draft - Marshall University Athletics

Interesting QB Idea...Just Thinking Out Loud

I like Rosen a lot more than many, but he's not a Patriots fit. He's got that gunslinger mentality that suits the Bruce Arians of the world much more than BB's protect-the-football-at-all-costs way of life. He has a great throwing motion and footwork, but is way too ballsy when it comes to...

2020 mock drafts: what the pundits think

I get that, and you make good points. But in return, I would say that the Lamar Jackson issue was whether his game could adapt to the NFL level (and these days we are seeing that the answer is increasingly yes). Whereas this year's motley crew is flawed quarterbacks who seem to be missing...

2020 mock drafts: what the pundits think

Frankly it's just proof that the NFL media is full of ****ing idiots. If Love, Herbert or Fromm were actually any good, then they'd be mocked much higher in the 1st round. They'd be going in the top 10 because they'd be franchise quarterbacks. But the reality is that all three are fundamentally...

Bills are trading C Russell Bodine to the New England Patriots

Greg Bedard has interviewed Bodine's OL coach at the Bengals - great article. What kind of player are the Patriots getting in Russell Bodine?
