Meriweather was in no way better than Chung last year. Meriweather took awful angles, blew coverages, and couldn't tackle to save his life. Chung sucked in coverage, sure, but Meriweather isn't much better and his other detrimental aspects are far worse.
I saw this on ESPN and my mouth was gaping. I love the new rookie salary scale, it's a great thing for both parties owners and players. It's not good for a kids development into an adult to have that much money immediately anyway, if they are #1 overall pick they'll likely get a killer second...
If AH is trying, I'll take Wilfork/AH. Both demand double teams and AH is a monster at generating interior pressure and is great against the run.
The iffy part is whether or not he's trying.
Mayo is a very good LB, but there are other LBs I think are better than him ignoring scheme or OLB vs ILB;
Ware
Willis
Mathews
Wake
Beason
Harrison
Woodley
Greenway
Hali
He blows tackles with an alarmingly high frequency and really isn't that great of a ball hawk. Rewatch some of the games from this season and watch Meriweather try to tackle, it's really sad. I believe his coverage skills are very lacking, he always seems to show up late to wide open areas where...
The Pierre Woods analogy someone else used sums this up perfectly. Riding the 07' teams coat tails doesn't make Meriweather any better than it does Chad Jackson.
The players aren't exactly the best for rankings, the top 100 they've created on NFLNetwork is a perfect example. Some of those...
- Brandon Meriweather's contribution to the 2007 defense was not substantial
- The Pro Bowl is a general mockery of NFL rankings, it's based almost exclusively on player popularity whether merited or not. That is, unless you think Matt Light played better than Sebastian Vollmer in the 2010...
Chung is a liability as a nickle defensive back currently, I think everyone will agree to that but my greater point on the Meriweather hate is that Meriweather has been in the league 4 years and still lacks fundamental skills that would allow him to have a potentially good career. He's...
