For any of us who have been frustrated at Belichick's insistence on devoting such a chunk of the roster to special teams "aces," I have good news--Jerry Jones agrees completely. He explained it after the game last night: anybody can do something as basic as special teams play.
Yep, GM Jerry...
The one big complaint many have about this Patriots draft was the lack of a tight end. 13 TEs were drafted from pick #32 on, and doubtless a few will turn out to be good players who we'll wish we had.
But of course, you don't get to pick all 13 on draft day. You have to pick a particular guy...
Per contractual agreement. No actual poetry was harmed, or even contemplated, in the making of this ode.
In the land of football plenty, where Lombardis grew on trees,
A single dream went unfulfilled: The Challenge of the Three.
Each year the faithful ventured, draftniks bold and draftniks...
Before you dismiss all of the reports linking the Pats and QBs as "smokescreen season," consider that we only seem to talk about smokescreens when we don't want a rumor to be true. ;) Yes, plenty of misinformation circulates this time of year, but plenty of real information, too. And honestly...
You've studied. You've argued. You've mocked. You've developed unhealthy attachments to sleeper edge rushers from Western Toledo A&M. Now it's time to put your Patriots draft instincts to the test.
The Patriots have 12 draft picks. Name 12 players you think they might choose. The most hits...
Care to share names you're going to be watching for at picks #243, 246 & 252? In B.C.G.'s thread @manxman2601 made the case for Illinois IOL Nick Allegretti:
And I tossed out Lehigh RB Dom Bragalone:
Who else should I keep an eye out for, to maximize the total draft heartbreak experience? :)
Just a reminder that if you want to dive into the upcoming draft, the obsessive analysis takes place in the Patsfans draft sub-forum. We're blessed with some uncommonly knowledgeable and devoted posters who are breaking down prospects and strategies as we speak:

I decided to try a little meta analysis to get a handle of the likely state of the board at #32. NFL.com and CBS.com have a total of 10 mocks done in April. 52 different players make it into round 1 in at least one of those mocks.
Of those, 27 are gone before pick 32 in at least 7 of the 10...
I mentioned this in another thread, but I think it's a core issue of this draft. If the Patriots have had one consistent element to their draft approach in the past, it was what they did before the draft. They would plug any obvious holes with adequate veterans, so they could enter the draft...
In case you haven't seen it, TheDraftNetwork.com has a nice little feature of side-by-side positional rankings by five different analysts. I find it helpful for getting a sense of how much consensus there is in ratings of a particular player--and how much you can rely on his slot in a particular...
I'm trying to use this tool, but I can't for the life of me get it to display any measurements. I can filter by year, position etc., but only on the default table. The measurements and thresholds tabs don't seem to have any effect.
Is anybody having better luck?
Every NFL team but one has drafted a wide receiver in the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft since 2015. In most cases, more than one.
The Patriots haven't done so since 2013.
IMO it's pretty clear at this point that it was a deliberate strategic decision. New England gave up on stocking their...

It's a wild and woolly draft year. The Patriots have plenty of needs, even if nobody quite agrees on what those needs are. And unlike last year, they also have plenty of picks in the top rounds. They could move up, down, side to side. So the draft may be complicated, but this contest is always...
A pretty amazing stat from Volin's breakdown of the Eagles today:
"Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are now 15-0 in the postseason against teams that they didn't face during the regular season."
That would leave just a 12-9 record in repeat engagements. IMO this is absolutely huge, and may go a...
Just wanted to tip my cap to the Belichick, Brady, and Fears, who as far as I know are the the three players/coaches who have a chance to earn their 6th rings with the New England Patriots. Am I missing anybody?
Interesting stat buried in a muddled article today:
The Belichick Patriots have a 50-24 (.676) record in repeat meetings vs. the same opponent in a single season, which looks good but is significantly below their overall .743 winning percentage. I was a little surprised since they're generally...
