WEEI: Pats Release LB Prescott Burgess, sign DL Terdell Sands

The Center for the Jets claimed that Ted Washington was close to 400 pounds, but he also had a unique style where he would release off his block and quickly shift laterally with the running play so he wouldn't get caught off balance.

    The Offense-after the preseason & 2 games

A couple more games of Brady hobbling around with that knee brace and the fans will call for Brian Hoyer to start as the QB.

Raiders sent the 5 day letter to Seymour

It seems very unusual for Bob Kraft not to comment on a trade like this, and that could mean there are ongoing negotiations. The Raiders said they got permission from the league to create another roster spot, and that implies Seymour won't be on their active roster for the first week's game.

More valuable? (Seymour vs. Draft Pick)

At some point the Pat's can only spend so much time "building for the future" and have to make and win the Super Bowl, and that could have been this year if the Pat's kept Seymour. He remains a top DE whose mobility looks excellent for his age and right now that's what the Pat's need.

Belichick going to be live in NFLN

Another interpretation is the Pat's need to be able to move into the top 10 picks next year, not this year, and so they are willing to move 23, 34, and 47 to get there. Also trading for two first round picks next year may not be out of the question.

    He's (NEInsider) back...

If the rumor is true, the Pat’s are planning to keep their early 2nd round pick from KC and they see a lot of perceived value in that position in the draft. Also if a lot of teams are looking for 2nd round picks, the Pat's might swap their other two 2nd round picks for a mid-round 1st next year...

Schefter: Cassel (and Vrabel) to Chiefs for 2009 2nd-rounder [merged]

Re: Adam Sch. reports : Matt Cassel to Chiefs ! [merged] The Pat's have been fleeced if they only got a 2nd.

    Why Pioli left?

Bob Kraft said they knew that Pioli had no further opportunity for career advancement with the Pats, so they were pleased to provide recommendations to help him find a new position. That doesn't sound like a money problem. Also Bob Kraft will be 70 in 2011 and you would expect Jonathan Kraft to...

*Speculation* If McDaniels leaves who is the next OC

The running game developed well this year, so how about O'Brien as QB Coach and Fears as OC?

    Reiss on RAC

RAC always got the defense to play hard for him, and that was one reason the defense was so successful when he was DC. It allowed BB to focus on other areas that he tends to excel at. Especially early this season the defense looked like it lacked motivation at times.

Chiefs offer GM job to Pioli

Re: Chiefs Offer Pioli GM Job Do you think Hunt would consider Pioli without the Kraft's recommendation? Bob Kraft tends to think in terms of what's best for the league, since NFL owners benefit the most by working together and helping each other out.

Chiefs offer GM job to Pioli

Re: Chiefs Offer Pioli GM Job The AP reported Hunt and Jonathan Kraft are "close friends.” This is unique opportunity for Pioli since Hunt lives in Dallas and, as the grandson of H.L Hunt, he has many business interests besides his multiple sports teams. Hunt likely needs someone who can take...

Mike Lombardi on Pioli and McDaniels 1/7/09

Are there any rumors on who the Pat's are considering for their new OC and/or Quarterback coach?
  14. lobster

    Pete Carroll-what went wrong?

Pete Carroll might have someday developed into a fine pro coach, but with a new stadium in planning Bob Kraft probably didn't have the time to wait. Eric Mangini probably had a similar problem at the Jets.

Your feeling on the Patriots getting snubbed out of primetime tonight?

I wish the Pats could move every Sunday night game to an earlier time slot.
  16. lobster

    League officials celebrated with Jets?

I most object to league officials putting such an important division game on the NFL Network, which effectively amounted to a blackout for a lot of Pats fans. Fans here in Maine seem furious about that decision.

Bleacher Report: Why Brady's career is over

Until Brady's doctors announce his infection has cleared, it's pointless to discuss his future in the NFL.

Place blame on BB NOT Cassell

BB seems unlikely to start O'Connell before he's fully prepared and can do all the reads and adjustments, and until then he has to encourage Cassel. Right now BB has to focus on correcting the other problems on the team.
  19. lobster

Who has been the most impressive Patriots player thus far at the 1/4 mark?

Deltha O'Neal for notably improving the play of the DB's.
  20. lobster

Will the Pats make the playoffs?

O'Connell should handle the offense far better, but he's probably not prepared to take over yet.
