It's half-time in Ghana-Serbia and the German TV is getting the fans fired up for tonight (Germany's first game, vs. Australia) by a trailer showing the highlights of Germany's World Cup tradition. Oh boy! It goes on for about 10 minutes, not just one Geoff Hurst hat-trick! (And they always seem to win their penalty shoot-outs.)
I've been watching the games with the commentary off, but, to be fair, German TV didn't gloat about the U.S.-England game. Believe me, if that had been Germany playing, the British "studio experts" would have been falling off their sofas laughing. The main studio expert here has been Guenther Netzer, by the way. He's my all-time favourite German player by a mile -- up with Johann Cruyff and Ruud Gullit for my favourite European player.
