Sexy Rexy's secret weapon this week: McKnight. You heard it here first.

You can't really blame them. If we keep passing at this rate our QB is gonna be carted off the field in a wheelchair. Check that, he might actually die on the field.

They need to establish some sort of run game. They've done nothing so far. Top 5 the last two years to 3rd from the bottom this year. Its atrocious.

That's what happens when you have one phenomenal OL (Mangold), one good one (Ferguson, who has to be one of the most overrated players in the league), one reasonably good one (Moore), a couple of JAGs (Slauson, Hunter), and **** for depth. The Pats' seventh best lineman is comparable to the Jets' fourth. Everyone talks about your line injuries, but the Pats are down three starters from last year, and two from what they were supposed to have going into this season. Depth matters, and the Pats seem to have a philosophy of not letting their starters go until they have someone who they know can do the job (Vollmer > Kaczur, Connolly/Waters > Neal, re-signing Light and Mankins even as they drafted Solder...). Even then, I wish the Pats had been more proactive in addressing line depth, so you can imagine how I feel about the Jets' philosophy. They seemed to just assume that Mangold would never miss a snap and that two of Ducasse, Slauson, an Hunter would both become capable players.

McKnight and Holmes are the only guys on that offense who should make anyone nervous, so you're probably right.

the jets took a step back this year imo....they cant run the ball or defend the run, and their only real options on passing are holmes and relying on a 37yo plaxico burress....they lost braylon edwards and cotcherty this offseason...

they expect to run with this offensive line? i hope haynesworth plays this game because he is going to have a field day with an injured mangold

Ryan, is just trying to play the usual head games. He would be insane to go ahead with that approach. He's throwing up smoke, as usual.

Revenge game here we come!

the headline was wrong..he said "I'm gonna pound down ten pounds of ground round and then take in a couple of snifters of toe...feets don't fail me now!!..."

I don't really buy this. I just can't for the life of me believe that an NFL coaching staff would decide to primarily run against the 32nd pass defense. Everyone is ragging on Sanchez, and I agree he has been terrible at times, but he has the potential to be much better. He's being held back by a real Schitty offensive coordinator and that offensive line has been getting him killed. It's certainly not all on him.

Also I'm hoping that Haynesworth is healthier than we think, and this could be his coming out party. If he is committed to turning his career back around then I think this could be a huge week for him. Id love to see big things from him, especially against this team, but who the he'll knows. I'm stillmhoping he's the real deal.

McFadden had one great rushing play and then a total non-factor as a runner the rest of the game.

On what planet do you get to pick and choose which plays 'count' when evaluating our defense?

I would rather have a guy who gains 150 yards on 20 carries because he broke a couple of long ones rather than a guy who picked up 7 plus yards on every carry.......the previous poster had a valid point

One of the defense's biggest problems has been stopping the big play.

Huh?!? What is picking and choosing? McFadden has been the most dominant runner in the league this year and other than one play, he never got his running game going. Against the Jets, McFadden had ran for 171 yards including runs for 70, 20, 17, and 15 yards. The Pats allowed one run over ten yards twice (the 41 yarder and 11 yards).

I know the "The Pats defense is crap and we cannot give them any credit" crowd don't want to give any credit to defense for anything. If you want, I can say the Pats held the best runner in the NFL to 75 yards. Either way the Pats shutdown McFadden on the ground.

I'm not picking and choosing. I didn't say the 41 yarder didn't count, but it was about 15 seconds in 60 minutes of play. To ignore that other than that one play, McFadden was a non-factor as runner the rest of the game is just as non-valid as trying to cherry pick stats. McFadden did break for one big play and then got shutdown for the rest of the game as a runner. Those are the facts.

You can't jedi hand wave away inconvenient facts. No more than I can go 'if you take away a couple of passes then the Pats defense totally shut down Vincent Jackson!'

Stopping the big run is a huge part of a run defense. Some backs will whittle away at a team for 2 yards here, 4 yards there until they break off the big one.

I'm not down on the Pats defense - especially their run defense - as much as some are, I'm just more rolling my eyes at your decision to arbitrarily deem a big run as somehow not a factor in assessing the Pats' performance against run DMC.

If the Jets don't trust the Sanchise against this Pats pass Defense then they need to start Mark Brunell.

Not buying this. Haloti Ngata, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs aren't walking through that door. Sanchez throws for 350+ this week.

I wouldn't say 350+.

This is the same guy that could have a open receiver and throw the ball at his helmet. His accuracy sucks. He may pass for decent yardage but I have a feeling that Haynesworth and Hernandez will be back for this game.

Hopefully Big Al can help with the pressure aspect and Hernandez will be back to help Gronk burn them down the seams.

First, I am talking one run, not "a couple of passes". One play can skew the stats (see below). The fact that he was a non-factor on the ground other than one play is not cherry picking stats.

Second, the Vincent Jackson comparision is a red herring and not even remotely close to the same. Jackson got 172 yards and two TDs. McFadden got 75 yards and no TDs on the ground. How is that remotely a fair comparison. You take away Jackson's two best plays and he still has over 130 yards (his longest catch was 29 yards). You take away McFadden's two best runs and he has less than 25 yards rushing for the day. That is saying that taking away Sanchez's couple of turnovers for TDs, he and Brady pretty much had the same day on this past Sunday.

Third, even with that 41 yards, the Pats shut him down since going into the game he was averaging 131 yards a game. He got 75 against the Pats. I'm not saying the 41 yard run was not a factor. I am saying it is one play out of 14 that McFadden ran. Other than that play, the Pats shutdown McFadden on the ground and that is a fact.

Fourth, without that run, he ran for 34 yards the rest of the game at an average of 2.6 YPC. So are you suggesting that since McFadden averaged over 5 YPC with that 41 yard run that McFadden ran all over the Patriots and the Patriots had no answer.

Ok, you win. McFadden had a monster game on the ground that the Pats had no answer all game. McFadden rushed for over 5 yards a carry which means the Pats run defense couldn't stop him all game.

Funny, I am rolling my eyes that you would use such a BS comparison to make your point and you have zero ability to comprehend my point.

Apparently this guy has never heard BB make the exact same argument... No one likes to see their team give up a big play, but HC's and rational fans realize that the other guy is getting paid too... And in the context of Sunday's game BB was pleased with the way things played out... Hypercritical fans are never pleased no matter the outcome.

Yea I'm not buying it either, why would they run against a Pats defense that give up 300+ passing yds on a weekly basis. Sure he may try to balance more, but the Jets will be test our secondary early and often, also we don't really have a pass rush to speak off. Another Rex reverse psychology move
