The Patriots made a very bad decision to trade down with the LA Chargers. This was a swap of picks as the Patriots gave up #34 and #137 to drop down 3 spots to obtain #37 and #110.
The Patriots came into the 2024 Draft hoping to add depth at tackle, specifically on the left side, and it appears they may have accomplished that Friday night. New England snagged offensive lineman Caedan Wallace with the #68th overall pick out of Penn State, with Wallace apparently being a player who had been on their radar for most of this offseason leading up the draft.
Going into the 2024 season, Jacoby Brissett should be the starter. Brissett is a former Patriot who is well acquainted with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and quarterback coach T.C. McCartney from their time with Cleveland. Brissett, along with Van Pelt and McCartney, can and should serve as sounding boards for Maye. This right here is far better than whatever passed as coaching for Jones over the last few years save for Bill O’Brien or Josh McDaniels. Maye comes into an environment that is already better than what Jones had.
