Olympics

Feels like she can't compete because she's mentally ill. I'll critique her when I have a bunch of medals. My guess is, having done nothing but train (and win) from childhood to young adulthood, we might not be capturing the entirety of her internal state by saying she "quit."
Not to mention she was sexually abused by a doctor who worked with the team.

I see/hear this stuff and I just think she's going though some stuff and I don't care if she's the GOAT, she's also 4'8 or something, and I feel like we should be protective of her. Plus that abuse stuff. LEAVE SIMONE ALONNNNE hey it rhymes with her.

Who was the media reporter that publicly asked Biles about her abuse history like a week or two right before the Olympics? Should call that person out.

How about that women’s beach volleyball

Why?

so they have a mixed 4x100 medley relay....2 guys and 2 gals.....

and don't forget the 4 X Supermoron relay starring NumbCuck, WhackjobFromVirginia,Tom666 and Illegal Ivanoski....it's run backwards...into oncoming traffic...

The defense of Biles is hilarious. “She got chalk for her teammates”. She quit. She may be the GOAT, but she quit.
Whether she had good reasons or not, she stopped competing. She let her team down. What if a Patriot did this? I doubt there would be a ton of understanding here.

I don't think she quit intentionally, she just hit a wall. I heard commentary on Biles from a former Olympic gymnast who explained the mental "shutdown" she apparently is struggling with. The sport is so precise and demanding that body and mind must be totally in sync or else the athlete literally is in mortal danger. If focus, will and health aren't 100 percent, fear sets in (for good reason) and it's tremendously hard to work through. She's trying to salvage something for these games but might not succeed.

it would have been selfish to stay in and wind up flopping on something when there was a perfectly capable replacement for her. It was a classy team move.

next one up......Suni Lee wins the gold

Particularly when you have routines that are as dangerous as some of hers.

I have interest in gymnastics, track and field, swimming and the rest exactly every four years. I am particularly apathetic about Simone Biles quitting or not quitting. I get that she works hard and is an unbelievable athlete. I just think it's very hypocritical for me to care one way or the other when I only give a chit when the Olympics are on.

So you're basing your what-if on your experience as a Patriot, an Olympian, or both? "Oh my god, what if a Patriot did this!!!!" You think all Patriots who get concussions should play through them? "F U Aaron Hernandez get TF back on the field... Junior Seau would..."

Apparently, she felt like she's not right, and while she'd doing **&^*& that you and I think only other species can do like maybe the Fast Zombies in "I Am Legend" or something, if she's not mentally right she can get Strugged or worse. She did the right thing, but more than that, she made the call that was hers to make, nobody else's.

If you say to some guy with a concussion "can you go?" the stereotypical answer is "Absolutely Coach! Noblue pan skat me!" Put that guy in and you're committing a crime. Nowadays guys are learning to say no. That's more like her case than keri struggs.

The bravery part is real, though it is just what it is. No reason to drag in a previous woman who "played through the pain." Different kind of brave. Not more, not less, but sure, different.

Acting like you have some perch to judge the GOAT of a sport because she made a call that's hers to make about her own safety is just dumb.

When Biles says she has the 'twisties' it means this...shes lost kinesthetic awareness refers to our ability to navigate space and the awareness of how we move. ... Kinesthetic awareness and proprioception work as partners to get us through the movements of our lives from the inside and the outside of the body. Muscle memory is a kinesthetic concept. She loses her awareness of where she is in the middle of of one of her moves. Ex. in the middle of doing a back flip on the beam she loses he sense of where she is in space relative to where the beam, she no longer knows if shes suppose to get ready to land or where the beam is. Its not in her control. she just can't 'toughen up' and perform. Sounds really scary to me.

I don't understand why we need to label her actions with "bravery" because they're not imo. But she has already represented this country and delivered in gold. She should be proud. We should be proud. If she's dealing with something right now that prevents her from performing, mental or physical, we should all have her back. I can't imagine the pressure she's under.

Mental illness is so overlooked. A great percentage of people that are denouncing her for sitting only are rooting for gymnastics for a few weeks. Biles has a lifetime to consider.

Those people are uninformed morons.

People forget she was one of 150 girls who was sexually abused by that scumbag. In interviews shes detailed her depression, anxiety, etc and how she's dealt with it. She buried it deep. Plowed through but it caught up to her and she eventually got some help.

I believe people should never let their circumstances or negative experiences be used as an excuse or crutch for not accomplishing their dreams. She's certainly accomplished a ton in her life and will continue to do so.

I have no idea if Simone has mental illness or what the root cause for her twisties is but she's certainly dealing with her horrific experience the best way she can and her critics should STFU

Because, as you can see all around you, there is tremendous pressure to just go out there, take your chances, and let it make you fail -- and possibly suffer a truly terrible physical injury -- or overcome it. "Life is risk! Roll the dice! You'll be fine after a tub of ice!" (Mostly coming from guys who only saw tubs of ice in the movies.)

There's all kinds of courage... people are saying there's courage in showing people what a rational athlete looks like despite their enormous expectations. I don't need that to be bravery in her case, it's just what it looks like to me. I mean, if it's not, that's fine too... main thing is, and we agree on this, errbuddy shup. She doesn't have to gymnastick if she doesn't feel right.
