Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The players union would be pissed but on the other hand the guy is 46 years old so not sure if it’s setting a precedent
How's it working for some of these quarterbacks who are sucking their team's payroll dry?

Brady's always understood the balance of his paycheck and the remaining strength of the roster. He understands the business/financial end of things and how he can impact that favorably to improve his team's chances for success. It underscores his unparalleled drive to win.

A good to very good QB is 30 mil to 40 mil. Let's say Brady is at this level. A middle age QB reduces that by 5 mil. A hometown discount if SF is another 5 mil.

I see him signing for 20 mil plus 10 mil bonus incentives.

I don't think Brady would even ask for that much per season. He probably would be content with 2 years at $25 mil per. I would imagine if he does sign with a new team that he'll want to a two year commitment. I doubt he would be content with any one-year scenario.
No please just 1 more year only. I think that's all he has left playing good before the clock strikes midnight and he turns into Manning at the end of his career.

Look at the evidence.
2019- Brady could no longer carry scrubs.
2020, 2021 - played elite with great supporting cast, but there were signs.
2022- Brady looked very average with a diminished supporting cast.
2023- Brady still can potentially play elite but now he needs it all, OL, RB, OC, TE, WR. That's SF, possibly LV and Miami,. Not much else.

He would only turn into Manning if he gets some sudden nerve damage. That’s why Manning just absolutely fell off, it wasn’t some natural decline.

He'll never reach the depths of Manning's decline. Manning was dealing with a major physical issue. Physically Brady is fine and there's no reason to believe he can't keep it together for another two seasons.

Brady wasn't bad himself in 2019. That team was terrible by the end of the season.

I didn't see any decline in 2020 & 2021. Arguably the two best back to back seasons of his career.

Brady overall wasn't great in 2022 but there were MAJOR problems all around him.

We'll see about 2023 but if he ends up in San Francisco, Las Vegas or Miami then I'm predicting big things (all three at least would get him back to prolific stats).

It's going to be real interesting if both San Francisco and Las Vegas are truly interested in Brady. A SF option could put a lot of pressure on Vegas to promise adding whatever pieces Brady wants to the offense, like his first season in Tampa Bay when he brought in Gronk, Brown and Fournette. SF is roster ready but they probably could attract a better WR3 and maybe Gronk as a TE2 with Brady coming aboard. Imagine a defense trying to defend Deebo, Aiyuk, McCaffrey, Kittle and Gronk!

I think any team willing to commit to Garoppolo as their starter is really stupid. If there's anything we know about Garoppolo for sure it's that he can't stay healthy.
I don't know. At this point it seems like the issue is with the 49ers. None of their non-JG QBs can stay healthy either.

yeah I honestly think Manning could have been a pro bowl caliber QB until he was 40-41 if not for the nerve damage. even during that 2012-2014 stretch of huge numbers his arm was about half of what it was in IND. it was his brain and those weapons that kept him elite

Need a QB with elite pocket awareness. I might know a guy.

outside of a big injury, Brady has a LONG way to go before looking as physically bad as Manning and Brees did. their arms were completely toast. that throw to Julio in the first game was something post-surgery Manning and 2018-2020 Brees couldn’t dream of doing

I can’t even watch that ******** I just know it’s going to piss me off

It’s less egregious than you probably fear but just the question itself is dumb. If Mahomes loses we never have to hear it again though. 1-2 in the Super Bowl? With one loss being against Brady head to head? Yeah cya, it’s done goodnight maybe you’ll match Elway one day.

Shannon: Da ting is Mahome, he gonna. He gonna. Ball out da rest of his life Skip. Da ting is Skip. You got Mahome and he only 27. He got wheels Skip. Cannon arm. He gonna win a tonna rinnnngs Skip.

Have they talked about the inspiring performance on one leg?

yeah. I think it’s just the audacity to even ask it. good lord I’m hoping for either a 2009 Manning pick six in the closing minutes or a 2013 Manning beatdown. either one works for me. I’m going to laugh my ass off if he can’t have a positive TD/INT ratio for the 3rd straight SB

I mean I want the Chiefs to lose by any means but it would be funnier if Mahomes has another awful stat line for posterity.

I can't watch it either.... not because of the B.S. they spout, but because I can't understand a single word mush mouth says....

I can see it now: Brady got **** for losing to PHI with 505 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT

imagine if Mahomes loses and puts up something like 280 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

“he was incredible! his team let him down!”

I just hope PHI beats their ass by 2+ scores and Mahomes has a poor stat line

I thought I’d never hate players getting ball washed by the media more than Manning or Rodgers. but I legitimately think I hate Mahomes more than those two already. that’s impressive

It's a shame because Mahomes the person is way more likeable than either of them. But I won't sugar coat it, I don't like him because he's a threat to my favorite athlete's legacy. It's petty, it's dumb, but hey I'm honest about it. It's truly nothing personal about him, I just want him to lose because he IS great and so I want him knocked down a peg.
