Ridley, Higgins could be had.
One or both of them makes this Free agency a success on paper.
If Jennings came back and we added OT, DT, DB even Better.
I think the Higgins/Bengals thing is going to take a while to play out, like these things always do. He might be available, but I don't think he is yet. And that might be for the best, because if we were going to trade for him, I don't want to use picks from this draft.

That's how his agent Mulegeta (sp?) works. They demand a trade to get top dollar

Mainly I want to see something at LT, but the options aren't great. So no matter who we get, it'll be hard to take them serious as a savior.
When the guy you're happy to have gotten rid of is the top of the FA market there's not much chance of making a big improvement in here. We'll have to look at the draft and what's on the junk heap when cuts come at the end of PS.

IF we get Calvin Ridley or Tee Higgins with who we already have we can get a Day 3 WR with upside and there will be many to choose from.

Ricky Pearsall
Brenden Rice
Jacob Cowing
Jalen McMillan
Malik Washington

Two out of the following three, please.

- Tyron Smith (2 year deal with a 3rd void year to reduce cap hits next two years)
- Ridley
- Simmons

They have more than enough cap space left to do it. All three would be even better but that may be a bit greedy.

I just don’t know if this team is moving the needle for really good players to come here.

Yeah, I think it's going to be impossible to judge this offseason until the draft, as that's where the biggest changes are probably coming from.
But this has been the conversation around here for 5 years.

"We don't do enough to help the offense at QB-LT-WR."

I'm not sure what fans expect from Wolf. He can't wave a magic wand. It's not going to happen in FA.

IMO there is no savior for us this year. I mean neither FA nor draft makes us contender this year. Unless savior means someone who pushes us to playoffs.
I expect stable moves, no rush, no hurries. Fill the holes, draft a QB and other valuable players. Do not panic, rebuild the team this year and next when FA seems to be more attractive.

The Pats are unlikely to be serious playoff contenders, but the absolutely have to make some significant steps moving forward to being a contender in two to three years. That starts in this free agency with still close to $80 million in cap left.

They need a QB, LT and WR.

Then they can contend in theory.

BUT--we have no idea how it's going to come together with the coaching. If they hit on a QB at #3 and land a Tee Higgins, they can contend right away.

At that point, we won't be looking at any part of the roster looking for upgrades.

Don't sleep on this kid Cousins,

Vikings UFA Profile: WR K.J. Osborn

Osborn has been a valuable part of the Vikings' offense over the past few seasons.
  • Age: 26
  • 2023 stats: 75 targets, 48 receptions, 540 yards, 3 touchdowns
  • 2023 contract AAV: $891K
  • 5'11" 203lbs
I see him as a Jacobi Myers type replacement piece.

"The biggest game of his career, a 10-157-1 performance in the Vikings' 33-point comeback against the Colts. This past season, the Vikings replaced Thielen with rookie Jordan Addison and were without Jefferson for seven-plus games. Still, Osborn's numbers took a slight step back in a contract year, dropping to 48-540-3 with just two games above 50 yards and a career-high seven drops (per PFF). The drops were surprising to see after he had just two in 2021 and '22 combined.
He's a possession receiver who does much of his work in the intermediate area of the field, averaging 11.7 yards per catch for his career. His speed and route-running are nothing spectacular, but he has some sneaky big-play ability and red zone value. He's also a capable run blocker from the slot or the boundary."

I’m really on the fence with the WR position.
On one hand, I’m on board with signing a Ridley or Brown and then drafting a guy on day 2.

The other part is on board with going young, drafting something like:
3: Daniels/Maye
34: Legette/Mitchell
68: Corley

And letting them build together.
