As I've said before, they had the certainty that Maye was available and would "only" cost #3. If they trade down, there are no guarantees. And waiting a year or two could put them where the Vikings ended up this year.

While I don't completely disagree, the way I see it is Maye was a good bet to take, versus waiting a year (or two) and then having to gamble multiple firsts.

The Pats managed to hide/deal with Matt Light's Crohn's disease for his whole damn career, so I think they can deal with a known diabetic.
